Assetto Corsa: Dream Pack 1 available for pre-order

Kunos Simulazioni have made Dream Pack 1 available for pre-order from the Steam store. The pre-order costs €9,99, and will rise to €14,99 on the release day - Wednesday 11 March.

The DREAMPACK 1 features the legendary circuit of Nürburgring-Nordschleife in three configurations: Nordschleife, Endurance (Nordschleife+GP track), Touristenfahrten. The Touristenfahrten layout allows gamers to simulate a standard track day experience at Nürburgring, starting and completing the lap passing through the Park, reproduced in all its details. For this game mode we have developed a new feature, that records the laptime in "A to B" mode. The enthusiasts of the track days at the "Ring" will have the chance to live again their favourite driving experience for thousands of times.

Also, the DreamPack 1 includes ten new cars that will bring your AC experience to a new level. Our users didn't make our life easy when they voted for their favourites cars. Many of the new cars required the development of new features, physics models and great research. Our development team took the challenge and worked hard to deliver. From the rear live axle of the Alfa Romeo GTA or the 4 wheel drive system with 3 differentials of the Alfa Romeo 155 Ti V6, to the unbelievably high downforce and top speed of the Mercedes C9 and the extreme complexity of the McLaren P1 that incorporates both active aero andhybrid systems, we took no shortcuts and brought you all the necessary features needed to reproduce as realistically as possible the DreamPack1 cars, but at the same time also give modders the possibility to include all those features to their future creations. All the new features necessary for the DreamPack 1 will be also included in Assetto Corsa v1.1 available on Steam.

Marco Massarutto, KUNOS's Executive Manager:

"We have to admit that the production has taken more time than initially anticipated, however the further we gone into development, the more involved we felt with it. We believe that the Nordschleife is a unique track, and deserves to be reproduced at our very best, in order to convey its essence and beauty to our fans. The Dream Pack 1 represents the sum of our experience and skill and a new start, thanks to the improvements and new functionalities that Assetto Corsa 1.1 will feature."

"We have had several meetings to discuss the pricing policy of the Dream Pack. The price we had in mind when we announced the Dream Pack two years ago was higher than the one we set now. The investment requested for this production, in terms of time, money and logistics, has been huge, even because the development has requested almost six additional months of work not initially scheduled. Our strong will to share our work with as much people as possible, has prevailed over commercial logic and with this aim we have decided to set the fairest price we are able to do. We are also pretty sure that you will appreciate the chance to get this package in pre-order, saving even more money."

THIS.
That's why I love KUNOS and his boys. Also because of the honesty and being very open to community. FAIR PLAY TO YOU GUYS!!!
And that's why I bought it few hours after announcement despite not being to be honest very interested in package (I'm more street cars/smaller tracks fan).

By the way, 10 euros is surely a steal in Western Europe. For Central and Eastern Europe it's a fair price for DLC (in any video game. You have to calculate that salaries in Easter Europe are around 4x lower than in Western). If they'd set 25euros I'm pretty sure that many less players in Eastern Europe would by it. So that's very wise decision. It's better to sell 4 10euros DLCs than 1 for 25e...

Moreover when you compare the prices to those from R3E and iceRacing (which are out of moon) then even in my region of Europe it looks like steal ;-)
Forza 5 DLC with 10 cars with copy/past physics costs around 10 bucks... vs. 10 Kunos' cars with sate-of-art physics and laserscanned Nurburgring...

I wish you guys that lowering the price will be not only PR success but also financial one.

Well of course this DLC is a nobrainer, very nice pricing so nobody should really have any trouble knowing what to do.

On the other hand in anticipation of the DLC I thought it would be a good idea to fire AC up again after like 2 months or so. Can´t tell you why but I wasn´t thrilled that much anymore with it.
Tried a couple of combinations, 458 S3 on Silverstone GP: Don´t know if my FFB is set properly but hell it felt lifeless and not very controllable to me. I´m not feeling what the car is doing, there is not much of change in force when you loose grip and get it back.
Ok, then 458 GT3 on Spa, same thing... don´t know what the damn car is doing and where I could improve my driving.
So what I hope is that FFB and other areas of the game get an improvement as well. At least give it the most basic features that a racing game needs. Pitstops, good AI, physics and FFB please.
As much as I think that the DLC is great I somehow fear that it won´t be that much fun with the level of FFB that is in AC right now.

Cheers

Hey just incase you have not set your wheel setting correctly look at this
Calibrating your force feedback wheel using wheelcheck and ffbclip
and together with Force Feedback anti-clipping tool
I certainly found that I was running with too much "gain" and it was clipping a lot. with these tools suggested much lower settings and boy did I feel the difference! It certainly was not strong (but hey I only have a G27 wheel) but I could feel all sorts of things happening through the wheel.
As there are a lot of FFB wheels out there and each one of us wants a different setting KS can not have one setting that fits all.

Looking at the newest crop of photos on their facebook page.... Man I was a LITTLE skeptical of how nice the Ring would look after driving Trento... I though maybe it would be just a bit too much off-track scenery for them to manage to populate it with high quality modeling....

Seems like my worries were totally unfounded. It look bloody AMAZING.... Holy crap.

Look at that... A branded off-track vehicle? Those are usually just non-descript generic cars.

Next two days at work are going to feel soooo long.

The grass bank in the first photo looks very impressive. I've always found that banking like that tends to look terrible in sims because it's one horrible low resolution texture that looks nothing like the dirt and grass.

Well, tomorrow is my last exam for a while. Coming home and voila :p

Already love the attention to detail on th NOS, just look at all the details of the small part featured in the Tourist version:
