Arduino SFX Shield/Extension Board Group buy list (USA)

As you might have read I created a shield which makes the electrical part of installing the SFX100 super easy and idiot proof.

We will be organizing a group buy and make this board available to everyone who's interested.

The price of the board will be somewhere around 20 dollars
( plus shipping / handling and taxes if needed)

I will be handling orders for the USA region.

My current task is to collect prospects. In the second step, when the final price is fixed, you may send the amount including shipping costs to a PayPal address (PayPal for friends).

For those who have paid up to a certain date (I will post that later) the order will be started in China and the shipping to USA recipients will be arranged through me.

If you are interested and want to be put on the list, leave your nickname and desired quantity below in the topic. Thank you!

Update 1:
The final layout of the board has changed a bit. The RJ45 jack will be replaced by 2 screw terminals. This eliminates the need for an additional RJ45 breakout connector, and reduces the cost of the board.

Note that the enclosure has changed to accommodate this adjustment, so hold off on printing those until I make the updated enclosure files available.

Update 2:
Order process:
1. On April 5 I will send all people who are on the list a PM with my PayPal address.
2. Cost for US orders is $24 shipped for one board. Additional boards are +$9.00.
3. Please only use PayPal's "Send to Friends and Family " to avoid PayPal fee.
4. In the PayPal comment leave your full name and shipping address.
5. The payment window will close on April 12.
6. All orders payed by April 12 will be included in the group buy.
7. We will order the boards at the factory on April 12.
8. Estimated delivery before the end of May.

Group buy update time!

Four sample boards recently arrived from the factory for inspection. I tested them on my SFX-100 rig and they are working perfectly. I approved full production and it is underway now!

These sample boards were hand soldered. The final boards will be wave soldered on a jig, which will make them very consistent board to board.

We are still on track for May delivery. More info as it comes in!

Pyronious, you make me feel inadequate as a human being. Awesome work to bring this to the community and cement your name in the annals of SFX history.

That said, should we start providing our names/addresses to you now? Keep checking back waiting for that step ;)

Hah! Don't thank me 'till you have a board in your hands! ;)

As for addresses, I believe I have address information from everyone, including you. You probably just forgot sending it to me when you submitted your PayPal payment. I have everything I need to get everyone's boards shipped out as soon as they arrive!

Group buy update!

The SFX-100 Shields should be wrapping production at the factory this week. If all goes well, they could ship from China on Monday May 13. Hard to say exactly what happens after that, but I hope to have them in my hands by May 17. I plan to pack and ship the individual boards over the weekend and USA folks should have them by May 24th!

Almost there!

@Pyronious
Have you ordered the ones for other countries too or was that left for our local distributor guys?
If so were they coming to you to be sent on or did you order them to come directly to the buyers country?

The shipments went directly to the local distributors. The boards will be in distributor's hands this week. Australia arrived today, Germany looks like Wednesday and UK Friday. Not sure on US yet, I don't have an estimated delivery yet for some reason.

Looks like the US boards will get to me on Thursday May 16th. I will inspect and ship to everyone as quickly as possible. If all goes well you should have them in your hands the week of May 20th.

All USA and Canada boards are packaged up and ready to ship out on Monday, May 20th. You should expect your boards by the end of the week. Please PM me if you would like your USPS tracking number.

Was there any documentation on which estop input is closed or open? Might be a standard there, I'll go check.

Edit: It doesn't matter at all. Perhaps that was obvious. It just checks for circuit polarity.

Received mine too. Thanks Patrick!

Since my current "spaghetti" of wires, Wago connectors, and DB-25 breakout boards is all functioning properly, I'm in no rush to install it, but it gives me peace of mind that any reconfiguration I need to make will be MUCH easier than my initial install.

At least you have yours is an awesome little enclosure! I'm unashamed to admit this sat on a piece of exposed MDF until I received my board. Works perfectly!

Pyronious -

I received my board on Tuesday. It was packaged professionally and it worked flawlessly out of the box!

It makes my setup so much neater! Thanks a ton!

:geek:

Looks like it was done by a professional company. It's a huge testament to the their concern about preserving the open source nature here. They could've easily commercialized this and went to the bank. All those other sim motion manufacturers? They got their start in DIY, and shortly closed it off once they saw the money to make. Tremendous respect to these great gentleman across the board from beta testers to Pyronious.

I wonder what this will look like in 5-10 years? Thousands of builds.

Yeah, it's pretty exciting to have this level of motion hardware available at this price point. I don't think I ever would have invested in a DBox system, but the SFX-100 design really unlocked the possibility of owning my own motion simulator. I'm extremely thankful to @saxxon66 for making his design available and I'm happy I was able to contribute some of my own skills to the project.
