AC Startup Crash (GPU failed)

Hey guys,

yesterday I've bought the full package of Assetto Corsa on Steam. Reason for this was the incredible amount of mods e.g. SOL.
Now I tried to add the Custom Shader Patch to my freshly installed game, but there is no way, that I can launch the race with any car or any track. I haven't installed any other mods yet.
Every time I wanted to start the game it crashed instantly with "Game crashed: GPU failed...".
If I try to do some random gaming without the Custom Shader Patch everything works fine.

I'm not using TrackIR.
Please help me! I really want to enjoy this game :(

I got this error out of nowhere this afternoon, after running AC flawlessly for a few sessions. A change of tack, and I began getting artifacts followed by a proclaimed PU crash. The first few times, I got a system flag for GPU failure, followed by the usual warning message after returning to CM.

After lots and lots of troubleshooting, including trying every hint in this thread, it seems that deleting the CM folder in App Data did the trick.
Just as a precaution, I also validated the AC files, reinstalled all mods, deleted unused items and did a clean install of my GPU driver. Now, AC runs fine again, even a bit smoother than previously. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

I finally know the solution for KLGShader / 2dtextures, it has nothing to do with reinstalling the game, the problem is with WeatherFX in CSP if you disable CSP it will work knowing the problem is just there

In order to fix that: make sure all Sol Apps are on Use the recommended CSP version Go to settings/assetto corsa/video and make sure Post Processing is enabled and use the default ppfilter for no risk

I hope that fixes it.

For me, this problem started when I went from single screen to triple screen. But because I also probably made other changes at the same time, that I can't really specifically remember, it's possible that the monitor switch alone didn't break anything. Might have been a driver update, might have been updating Pure, CM or pp-filters - I don't know.

The game usually launches without problems the first time, usually also the second time, but after launching it more than a couple of times, it crashes at startup.

What I have proved for my setup, is that it is dependent on which Nvidia driver I am using. It crashed with all of those I tried, but in different ways. With the newest driver, the game crashes, gives a "gpu failed" window from CM, it breaks the Nvidia surround in some way, and I have to reboot to be able to launch the game again.

With older drivers, the screen simply goes black, and I can alt-f4 the game shut and just launch it again. This is the only reproducible thing I have found while investigating this issue. But it's far from certain that the drivers cause the crashes - because it does crash with all the versions I tried, just in different ways.

I also deleted CM, CSP, SOL and Pure and reinstalled them, deleted A3PP and all related apps, along with all scripts and other stuff lying around from old filters, and I'm now using PureSimple pp-filter. Moved the CM executable to another folder than AC root folder also.

Nvidia control panel settings pretty much stock, and I haven't been able to reproduce the crash by changing anything there. (Sharpen has never been enabled.) Now it's simply set to 16x anisotropic filtering, g-sync on, vsync on, max performance. Using pretty old drivers, 457.30.

And now the game hasn't crashed in a while, so it seems like one or some of these steps solved it for me. But it's really annoying not having pointed out one single step that actually solved it.

I run g-sync and fullscreen with Nvidia surround.

Is there one single thing that is the same from all of the setups that cause these crashes? If so, it would be easier to narrow it down. Only Nvidia? Only surround? Only triple screens?

No other games have had any issues at all here, so it's obviously an AC/CM/CSP/SOL/Pure/pp-filter issue.
