AC... 5600x vs 5800x vs 3700x...?!?

Hi,

I'm making a final upgrade on AM4 platform from Ryzen 1600 and will keep this for 3 yrs+

I've not been able to find any CPU scaling benchmarks for AC.

Does AC benefit with more FPS and better 1% lows with a 8 core vs 6 core...?

Should i buy the 5600x or 5800x or 3700x...?

Thanks.

In theory the 5600x is the best price vs performance ratio for simracing.
It has almost identical single core performance as the 5800x and a lot better single core performance than the 3700x.
The 2 additional cores of the 5800x and 3700x are useless for simracing.

BUT:
I'm not sure that there is a bios update for your current board you're using with your ryzen 1600.
It fits into the socket but amd made a sheet with what's compatible.

Sadly can't find it right now via phone.
Afaik x170 chipset got updates for ryzen 3000 but for ryzen 5000, you're gonna need some x370 or x470 mobo.
If you're going to get a new mobo, I can recommend the msi b550 gaming plus.
It's a bit thinner (4 layers) than other boards but it has the most features and lots of USB ports in its price range!
I made 3 builds with that board for friends and they're all happy, no issues. Even with some noctua nh-D15 on them!
You just need to be slightly more careful when putting in the ram and main power cable.
If all screws are in and the mobo is correctly supported by them, there shouldn't be any problem with the stiffness.

Asus Boards with the same feature list will almost cost 2x as much.

Great advice and I will add further to it....
If no BIOS availability, then your best bet...(since you'll be buying both anyway)...is to go with the Intel I5-12600k and a reasonably priced DDR4 board.
You can then reuse your RAM to save costs.
It is also a faster CPU in most games and cheaper by about $40.
If you are determined to stay on AMD, the B-550 as RasmusP stated is a good option.
I use the B-450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, simply because I got a refurbished one for less than $115 at a time they were selling for $179.
It was one of the best built (component-wise) as well.
It has been a 'solid' board and offers everything including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Pricing seems to highly depend on the country!
Here:
12600k = 305€
5600x = 260€

Z690 mobo that isn't garbage = 200€
B550 gaming plus = 110€

So Intel = 505€
AMD = 370€

The new i5 is a bit better, that's definitely a fact. But the 5600x isn't 135€ worse in comparison :)

Cheaper here in America.
Your point is valid.
At the rate you are seeing it...absolutely the AMD bundle.

thanks for the replies, much clarity in my head.

Since I'll be skipping Zen4 and will hold this for 3 yrs+ wanted to be sure 100% 5600x is enough for Sim racing and that 5800x is not required.

Essentially my current 1600 with my 1660ti is also very good but i do notice stutters here and there, also I only see 60+ fps when I'm racing with 15 opponents and it drops further if I'm racing with mods cars in AC which have 0 LODS.

I want to race with no stutters and 25 opponents at atleast High if not Ultra quality. That's my goal. My screen is a 2650 x 1080 29". I won't be upgrading to 1440p atleast 3yrs+

I've got a B450 fatal1ty itx which is confirmed to run the 5600x.

Also besides the saving on 5600x vs 5800x, I'll also not have to buy a cooler and can run the 5600x with the 1600 cooler which i belive is better than the 5600x cooler. Its taller.

I'm also expecting a price drop on the 5600x after the launch of 12400f on 4 Jan 2022.

I hope I'm on the right path.

Thanks

Slap some 5600x in there and get happy :)

This should clear up on the decision:

Your fps in assetto corsa will very much increase like the ratio of this single core cinebench r15 score.
So 145 for your current cpu and 255 for the 5600x.
If you have drops to 45 fps right now, that drop will then be:
(255/145) * 45 fps = 79 fps

If you have 60 fps right now, it'll be 106 fps then. :)

Have had nothing but problems with the X570/5600x board. Things like the sporadic ethernet connection, HP VR headset use, stutters, forgetting/resetting pedal settings plus other stuff whereas the 3700x on a (I think) B450 or B550 ran like a charm - really well. I will say though that the 5600X brought my Main T down to around 10% whereas the 3700x would be around 14-15% when using a like to like comparision on a hotlap. I think the 3700X is a great proccesser but a bit slower whereas my 5600X combo has left me with buyer's regret.

Yeah some x570 boards really seem to have annoying issues :(

The 3 b550 gaming plus boards from msi all run with zero issues though :)
