2010 World Touring Car Championship

FIA take the p*** they given Huff a drive through for pushing Farfus into t1 even though menu was pushing Huff and someone else was pushing Menu, FIA take the mick rubbish series rubbish rules rubbish stewards

Lol at Monterio at the 2nd race. He was driving public server :D

Yes, poor Huff did'nt deserve that penalty. I'm also sorry Michelisz, he was tapped 5-6 times in race 2.

WTCC's 15th and 16th rounds were held at Germany's Oschersleben racetrack. Both races witnessed some hard fights, penalties and collisions.

First race's polesitter was Augusto Farfus. But he lost his first place at the first turn when Rob Huff bumped him from behind. Farfus went off track and fell to 3rd position while Huff took 1st and Alain Menu took 2nd.

After a few laps Rob Huff was given a drive through penalty for bumping Farfus. But actually Menu bumped Huff, and Huff bumped Farfus. To protest it, Huff did'nt enter to pits for penalty, resulting a black flag for him. After Huff disqualified, Menu won an easy victory in front of Farfus. Yvan Muller came 3rd and extended his championship lead as Gabriele Tarquini retired because of a mechanical problem.

At second race, we had a standing start and Andy Priaulx which started on 3rd, rocket started and took the first place. Pole sitter Norbert Michelisz was 2nd and Michel Nykjaer was 3rd. Monterio on 4th was chasing them. Another good starter Augusto Farfus, overtook Muller on 5th. Monterio showed a play of reckless driving and tapped both Michelisz and Nykjaer while overtaking them. As a result he was punished with a Drive through penalty.

Unlucky Michelisz had more taps behind from Huff and Tarquini, in the end he finished 11th. With these 3 Seats having problems, Farfus took 2nd and Muller took 3rd place. Nyjkaer could keep his 4th. Both Huff and Tarquini had a great race from the back of the grid. But Huff was given a 10 places penalty after the race for tapping Michelisz. So at the end BMWs doubled as Priaulx 1st and Farfus 2nd.

For the first race, 15 drivers punished by the stewards. Tom Coronel, Michel Nykjaer, Norbert Michelisz, Kristian Poulsen, Sergio Hernandez, Fredy Barth, Jordi Gene, Franz Engstler, Mehdi Bennani, Stefano D'Aste, Andrei Romanov,Yukinori Taniguchi, Gabriele Tarquini, Fabio Fabiani and Darryl O'Young were all punished because they exceeded the speed limit of 90 km/h as they approached the start/finish line for the race's rolling start.

After this races, Muller leads the championship with 229 points. Priaulx decreased the gap and he has 218 points. On 3rd place Tarquini has 196 points.

Polestar Racing, official Volvo Motorsport partner since 1996, were given green light by Volvo Cars to enter one C30 car for Robert Dahlgren in the 2011 WTCC season.

According to Volvo’s press release “Racing results in 2011, however important, will be second priority. Polestar’s first and foremost task is to evaluate the car and the championship to provide Volvo Cars with a technical and commercial base to finalize an official Volvo entry from 2012.”
”We are very happy and proud for this vote of confidence. It will be a challenge for us but we have been prepared for this for several years. Our organization is in place and we have already started the preparation,” said Christian Dahl, Managing Director at Polestar Racing.
Volvo has won titles in the 1985 European Touring Car Championship, the 1998 British Touring Car Championship and more recently in the Swedish and Scandinavian Touring Car Championships. Now the Swedish manufacturer is set to take the first step for a comeback to international motorsport.

volvo.jpg”Volvo has a long standing tradition in touring car racing and through the WTCC we see a potential for converting this into a global commercial tool from 2012. It is vital that technical and commercial aspects of the series align with our ambitions and this is what Polestar will answer for us in 2011,” explained Magnus Jonsson, Volvo Cars Senior Vice President of Product Development and chairman of the Motorsport Board.

WTCC General Manager Marcello Lotti commented: “It is with the greatest satisfaction that we welcome Volvo’s participation to the 2011 WTCC. They supported us back in 2002 when we launched the FIA S2000 class in the European Touring Car Championship, and now they are back again the moment we adopt new technical rules, which shows their trust in the FIA and our organization. To have such an important brand backing WTCC in these difficult times for motorsport is a big boost for all of us, and I am confident that Volvo’s move will have a positive impact on those car manufacturers that have showed interest in joining the championship.”

Meanwhile Volvo and Polestar are focusing on the end of the current season. Freshly crowned Scandinavian champion, Dahlgren can clinch a second consecutive Swedish Touring Car Championship title this weekend at Mantorp Park before making his second WTCC appearance of the year at Okayama.

 This can only be a good thing for the WTCC and may well spur other manufacturers to join too! Good news in these difficult times for motorsport! Thanks for the update Bram

Good to see a Volvo racing again. Now all we need is Honda, Ford, Toyota and Alfa Romeo to decide if they are coming back or not. Make it an 8 car manufacture grid.:woot:
