What Does Your Dream Sim Look Like?

Everyone has different opinions. Everyone has different tastes. Everyone has the free decision to do what they want. We decided to race virtually. That is what binds us together. But what would you do within this niche we all belong to if you could design your favourite sim by any criteria?

Option 1: The Dream Already Became Reality

With the grand amount of sim racing titles out there, it would be amiss to think that nobody has found their optimum so far.

Be it any of the currently still serviced titles like Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, rFactor 2, RaceRoom or Automobilista 2 or something a bit more weathered.

Assetto Corsa is still relevant, to some extent even titles like rFactor 1 or Automobilista 1 still are. Or if we're going a bit further back, many people to this day swear on their NASCAR Racing 2003.

Fact of the matter is that many possibilities are out there, and you might have found your favourite already. If so, what game have you found that ticks all your boxes?

Option 2: The Dream is Becoming a Reality

Many games out there keep on improving, be it rFactor 2 with the resource influx from Motorsport Games or Automobilsta 2 with its always-improving physics model.

But then there are the announcements of upcoming titles like Rennsport and Assetto Corsa 2 that keep people interested, more or less.

The point is there are many games in development that might scratch an itch. Is there anything coming up that you really look forward to?

Option 3: The Dream is Just a Dream

So here's my dream.

A game without any monetisation in which I can live out the management side of racing. Also, race from time to time. I want perfect physics for that, full weather support, 24-hour day-night cycle. All race tracks in the world and all racing cars in the world. All BOP'd correctly. Also mixed reality support. Also Bentley Speed 8 LMP. NEED the Bentley Speed 8.

But let's stay realistic. That ain't happening.

So if the other options weren't fulfilling, what would be your dream-dream game?

If Project Cars 2 had the physics/FFB of AMS1, that would be just about perfection.

I guess this is my theme for today but I'm commenting without reading all (or any) of the already posted responses. I don't have all of the current-day sims, my iRacing sub expired @ 2 years ago, I don't have RaceRoom or AMS2 (but probably will by year's end). I drive offline RF2 , Assetto Corsa and ACC 99.8% of the time. I REALLY like the "feel" of RF2 for pure driving. Graphically it looks so much better than when I first got it in 2016... but whenever I jump into AC/ACC/ or even PC2 it immediately looks so... OLD. Presentation matters! I won't say it's more than physics, but it is a significant part of the appeal. RF2 with its new UI is better than it was... but WOW it is blown away (IMO) by the other titles I mentioned, even after being overhauled.

Cut to the chase... I think my dream sim would be something with the driving feel and physics of RF2, the graphic presentation of PC2/(presumably AMS2)/ACC - best parts of all combined, in a modular format that could accomodate DLC dedicated to individual real-world racing series.

So, something like a "framework" sim that maybe had some cars/tracks on its own but there was an Indy Car/IMSA/GT challenge/F1 (won't happen due to EA/Codemasters license but hey it's a "dream" post), Mazda MX-5 Cup, NASCAR, etc. DLC modules that could seamlessly plug in concept. And I mean that didn't have aggravating AI issues, things that ruin the single or multiplayer experience, etc.

So, buy one sim and pick the kind of content you want BUT IT ALL WORKS HOWEVER YOU WANT package. There's already some that seem to try doing that but the results are, um, "mixed".

Test Drive Unlimited style-esque game with the physics from rfactor 2, ffb from ACC with the modding support of Assetto Corsa. Add Motorcycle physics from RiMS racing and we have the ultimate game. Give me this and there is no need for any other game/sim.

Thank god for AC and Bazza!
This is really what I would like as well. Specifically I would love a simulator with a focus on classic race series, classic race cars, as well as just analog drivers cars in general, road cars welcome. I loved GT Legends back in the day and generally find older cars more engaging to drive than modern race and road cars.

I suppose if I was to be specific I would say nothing pre-1990s, but mostly focusing on anything 80s or earlier. Don't get me wrong, modern cars are amazing and I do love them, but both in Sims and in real life on road or track, I've had the most fun with older cars.
