Reiza pack was lovely, tho. Compared it with AMS 1 and Reiza Pack and it was some sort of a blast together.

For someone working at RD you would expect a more mature reaction.

Might be that there needs to be quite a lot of work and extensive testing before you bring content updates to the masses.

Eh, the other 4 letter word is censored. So I'll take the second best.

The Oreca is the only one being used in the Le Mans Virtual.
It's also the BMW M4 GT3 all over again. A car in a class that's unbalanced due to tyre models (here the M4 have the same tyre model as the other GT3's, but that wasn't what it was made for). Now the races with Prototypes and GTE's will have an unbalanced Proto-field due to different tyre models.
I do get why they needed to get the Oreca done for the official championship. But it's bad for everyone that's actually using more prototypes than the Oreca.
The Ligier will follow at some point, which is vague. While the Caddy. Well. That can be excused as it is an DPi. It's just bad to update 1 out of 2 cars they have in a class.

Would prefer if the Cadillac and Ligier will be updated soon too.

Hopefully GT3 isn’t far. It’s the only game with GT3 without downshift protection.

Good to see RF2 getting some love. As much as I have been a critic (of RF2), for me, it is still the best "driving" race sim out there.

Alert: try the C7 GTE at your own risk - you won't be able to stop - it is such an unbelievable soundtrack. The new tires make it way more easy to 'read' as well.

First stop is Andrea's Surfers Paradise in the Oreca, then C7R, RSR then M8. The track is mighty and with the recent audio improvements there I'm sure this is going to be a very enjoyable day.

Thats great news about the Reiza pack. Since the rf2 graphical overhaul VIR and Imola both suffer from having NEON green grass.

It does not have to be bad
If you have all content in 5kb rfmods it's impossible for Steam to delete anything. So you can keep using old rfmod and old versions of car however, whenever you like. Or you could make another rfmod that has old Oreca and new GTE. Or any other way you like.

I said it enough times, basic server management to keep ALL content activated in rfmods. Can't believe how many just submit to steam running your server content

Is clearly shown above .... the old Vette versions have not been removed even though I have uninstalled and deleted the old rfmod.
So I start MAS2 and look make a mod using any old content.

When you happy you don't need to use old versions delete the rfmod and uninstall the content and it will disappear. Or keep old and new rfmods which is what every server should do and make it clear to members not
to delete any rfmods till server tells them to.

P.S. So that's another thing only rF2 can do, ie: run old versions of any content.

Living in the age we live in, being spoiled by wonderful sims that show their cars like they are in real life, I cannot understand how nobody in the community and the dev team cares how wrong some of the dash displays are in the cars. Sure, rF2 doesn't have to support all the tinkering ACC has, but look at the dash of the Oreca. Just change the fonts a little bit so they aren't that stretched. Ferrari as well, just change to a bit narrower font. In the Aston? Just add some stupid numbers in those small circles. Is that so hard? Just to make it look somewhat authentic?

Yes, I have been criticizing this for ages. Yes, that was my first hope when I saw the cars being updated. Yes, the C8R has a proper dash display showing IT CAN BE DONE!

Glad to see the Reiza content getting an update – presumably to add all the nice PBR visual goodness that's been added since that pack came out

Here's one more person in the community that is bothered by that! Like, even many third party mods for rF2 (e.g. Acura DPi) do a way better dash display than some first party content. It's... baffling. I guess other things have been higher priority... but it still confuses me. Why?

IMO these dash displays can matter lots for first impressions (by new and potential users). Before I had rF2 but was curious about it, I'd watch videos of the game to learn more about it. Many would be in cockpit view in an official DLC GT3 or GTE car... and yet all-too-often I would see those terrible looking stretched fonts, too much bloom around the text, or fonts and dash layouts that look very little like the real car dashes (that many of us will have seen in ACC, for example). And I'd think... "how much else in rF2 is half-baked like these dashes?"

Now that's a rather unfair thing to say, of course, but it was my genuine first reaction in my head, and I can't believe I'd be the only one who would react along these lines.

This came up some time back, some years ago when the GT3s were being first released. It actually is a limitation of the engine. Marcel gave some info, but didn't go in depth. At least nothing I could find here, maybe there is more info on the rF2 forums.

C8R is fine. Ligier LMP2 is fine. Caddy DPi is fine (Oreca should have the same dash). Hell, even ISI Formula 2 looks fine. And by fine I mean not perfect like ACC or iRacing, but at least they look kinda authentic with realistic fonts. Older DLC content dashes (esp. M6 GT3, 911 GT3-R, Oreca 07, etc.) look terrible. I really doubt it's an engine limitation, they just can't be bothered to do anything with it.

Before people get too excited about the Reiza pack being updated 'soon', this is what Renato said in the S397 Forums:

We are long overdue for an update on the update for the Reiza rF2 Bundle - firstly I´d like to apologise for this delay and let everyone know we´re still pushing hard to fit this in the schedule as soon as possible - we´ve been somewhat unfortunate with timing as it wouldn´t have been time-effective to tackle the rF2 content while the new rF2 features were still in development, and now that they are stable we really have our hands full with AMS2.

We are eager to get back to it however and make use of the great progress rF2 has seen since our last update, but realistically it may still take a couple of months before we have window for it, and another month to get the work done - but we will get to it.

Could well be the case. Marcel's info on that is four years old, so it might well be out of date. Could also be something that is now implemented in newer cars but not in older ones. I also read somewhere that the engine only supports one font for the dash (or one font at a time), but I can't find a source for that anymore, so don't take my word as fact on that.

As much as I like rF2, I can't deny that there is a bit of a problem with a) priorities and b) consistent quality of the assets in the sim. The best example is that they updated the helmets before adding PBR materials to the dashes and cockpits. Every sane person would first fix the obvious stuff. Where do we spend the most time in racing sims? Yep, infront of the driver helmet.

And then comes the issue with quality control. Yes, there are engine limitations that make it difficult to design the dashes compared to other softwares, as rF2 was created when dashes weren't as complex as they are today. But I don't understand why some cars look terrific (Ferrari) and other cars look garbage. How hard is it to set a certain standard and follow it? Take alook at AC or ACC and it's pretty obvious that all cars are part of the same software. Why does the Cosworth steering wheel in the Oreca look so much worse than in the Ligier? Why can I count the polygons on the mirrors of the Porsche Cup and GT3 car while the Megane from 2013 does have them in the right way? Why is the little fan in the Infinity not smooth, like the fan in the Nissan GT1? There are countless examples like these and I simply find no excuse for them, especialy as some of the stuff is payware. Reiza has similar issues: how hard is it to notice that the steering wheels in some of the cars (AMS2 aswell as rF2 DLC) aren't centered properly? This does drive me nuts in the real world and so does it in the virtual world.
