Rennsport Will Have A Major Esports Event Before The Beta First Drops

rennsport_screenshot.jpg
Rennsport just announced a delay in procedures. While before, the closed beta invites were supposed to be sent out in January of 2023, it has now been announced that the closed beta invites will be delayed without a set date.

This comes as no great shock to people following Rennsport closely. However, it is surprising when thinking that in just under 2 weeks, the first major Rennsport esports event will occur at IEM Katowice. Following is the announcement which was posted today on Twitter.

The entire point of sim racing is to bring motorsports to the masses. No crazy costs or gatekeeping or weird hoops to jump through.

Restricting access to a racing sim, so only an exclusive group of eSports competitors and content creators can play it, behind closed doors and under special circumstances, isn't really how this works lol.

They cannot meet their Closed Beta go on to say "we will always put gameplay first" yet your busy going all Esports. What a load of rubbish!! :poop:

i have to say that to me, putting effort into promoting already the game as esport and getting already involved with this kind of events even before your game reached a beta state and is in testing by a big number of simracers is a red flag because it shows me that the priority does not seem to be to first have a great game on your hands, but to get into the spotlight as fast as possible.
wrong priorities here.

is it Unreal Engine 5 ?
cause even with 4090/13900K with UE5 demo, I have a so low framerate at 4K ultra....far more GPU demanding than UE4....
Most game engines overpower their GPU tech when initially released, you often need to wait for the hardware to catch up, like ACC

i remember when ACC went into Early Access in Sept 2018 i was still on the 1080ti, now we are on the third gen after the 10series, time flies.
but its still very demanding even on a high end modern gpu if you don't use dlss and want to play in 4k high fps single screen.

I'm just hoping they don't typeset the game interface the same way as this announcement image. Better, not typeset anything this way again.

P.S. I opened their site, and it's slowed down by animation or whatnot, seems to hijack the scrolling too, and likely also consumes a lot of memory. Oy vey. At least presumably they're concentrating the efforts on the game.

It is good that they are delaying the beta because it is not ready but keeping the Esports events? Why would they put all their eggs in that basket especially when the viewing figures are so low for sim racing.?Its putting the cart before the horse.Looks like they committed to the Esports idea and every employee is ensuring that happens when loyal sim racing nobodies at home are the ones who hand over the money to develop the sim and make it successful.

yes but I am looking forward to global illumination, that will be a major game changer for realism, ACC promised but I think Rennsport may succeed

yes, rt gi is indeed the only rt form i am interested in for racing titles tbh.
i think the whole reflections thing is just too minor of a visual improvement. I could see it only being nice looking under heavy rain conditions on a city circuit at night where you have houses and cars and lights reflecting on the track, but other than that its just unnecessary, basically like in FH5 currently, i dont even notice it.

I do not play iRacing for the exact reason you mentioned.
i sunk 300€ or so worth of cars and tracks in iracing and have not renewed my subscription for almost a year, so yeah i definitely know how bad it feels, my money is parked there and i have nothing from it, cant even play offline if i dont shill out 12 bucks per month just for the access. its ridiculous and i got baited. should've known better.
