Rennsport Will Have A Major Esports Event Before The Beta First Drops

Rennsport just announced a delay in procedures. While before, the closed beta invites were supposed to be sent out in January of 2023, it has now been announced that the closed beta invites will be delayed without a set date.

This comes as no great shock to people following Rennsport closely. However, it is surprising when thinking that in just under 2 weeks, the first major Rennsport esports event will occur at IEM Katowice. Following is the announcement which was posted today on Twitter.

I wish them to be good, but somehow have feeling that it will be nothing special at all, also they promissed closed beta keys till end of this month, and nobody got it, so do not think they are succeeding their plans. But i would like to try this sim ;)

I used to get excited with the announcement of a new racing game but the last several years have either been more of the same, a major disappointment, or just plain bad. I'll let other people be the testers, I'm fine with the old standards, dated graphics and all.

Insane!! It's terrible idea to have eports pro team be your alpha testers... I believe this will fail spectacularly!
Yes, even though they say the eSport doesn't require the same resources it seems strange to have such a public display of something that isn't even ready for final testing. A bit of a gamble I'd say.

Esports is for highly successful Sofware, not for a game in its beta stage. That's their first mistake. The fact they only can afford gamers to develop their game is their second mistake. No professional racing team will take their software seriously .

Saw this coming the moment the esports event was announced...

It's a high profile small sample BETA test... Which given what iRacing and rF2 have done with their esports events recently seems just basic operating procedures for sim racing...

Well, they’re way further along than the West Brothers ever were. All we ever got from them was promises and renderings. Beautiful renderings. That being said it feels similar.

I understand they have to try their best to get attention on a very busy simracing scene, but that's a bold move... Better not mess it up or it may backlash quite badly, before the game is even released.

Some part of the West Brother's project WAS released. Cut down to be sure. Did anyone ever get the fancy leather bound manual they were going to sell? I can't remember what title it became. I did find one site that stated the iRacing creators bought the code and incorporated it into iR.
