Recreating the Galeão GP in Automobilista 2

Galeao GP Race in AMS2.jpg
The 2022 Galeão GP was held last weekend in Rio, and Automobilista 2 gives you the chance to recreate this fast, fun event in the comfort of your home.

Many of us will find ourselves with a bit more extra time this weekend bit dint of the Easter long weekend. This might be the perfect time to recreate the Galeão GP, the exciting fourth race of the 2022 Stock Car Pro Series season.

The real life race was held last weekend in Rio de Janeiro at the Galeão airport. The extremely wide and long straightaways at Galeão mean you're flat out for most of your lap, with plenty of room to set up and execute an overtake into the braking zones.

The track is a great fit for the 2022 Stock cars in Automobilista 2. These cars are among a select few that have been given updated tires with stiffer sidewalls to date. The 450 horsepower V8 engines sound great racing wheel-to-wheel down the runways, and a little bit of rear end slip on corner exit make these cars a blast to drive at Galeão.

Here is how to set up the race in AMS2:
  • 2022 Stock Cars
  • Galeão Airport
  • April 10th, 2022
  • 30-minute race
  • 13:00 start time
  • Medium cloud
  • Rolling start
The real race featured two 30-minute races, so jump right back in for another session if you have the time. Allow for plenty of fuel, perhaps 80 liters, as the Stock Cars tend to be thirsty.

Here is a look at the real race from last weekend:

The beautiful Brazilian setting, the roaring V8s, and the close, fast racing action make this a great way to pass a half hour this weekend or any time.

If you've had a chance to create the Galeão GP in Automobilista 2, be sure to let us know in the comments below if you enjoyed it. Or, if you have another way to enjoy your long weekend with some bonus sim racing, let us know that as well.

Not with my SimXperience GS-5 and G-Belt and IMO the big bump around the middle of the long straight could be a bit more steep like in the video.
a GS-5 is far from being a system with 4 actuators (like D-Box)!!! But it's my bad; it's not the track the problem, I think it's the vehicles. The telemetry(?) or data(?) should perhaps be reviewed for some vehicles, because it really stirs too much for some. Otherwise, yes, the big bump around the middle of the long straight, is very cool and immersive.

So unboxed my Quest 2 this morning (my first ever VR) and had to stress test my RX 580 for more of my most used sims (easy to reach the limits with my bedated gfx, but hours of finetuning and scrutineering delivered satisfactory results).
And then 4 hours ago I remembered this article and just HAD to VR race it.

So loading Galeão I got the Stock Car ProSeries 2022 class right.
BUT forgot to remove mixed classes, so had a blast with the mentioned class PLUS Group A, GT Classics, Vintage Touring Tier 1, Copa Fusca ...aand Group C ....wow, getting lapped by the Sauber C9's at the bumpy straight, experienced in VR....WOW! :D:inlove:

Completely forgot time and that I in less than four hours have plenty of things on the program both family and work related.

I'm getting addicted.

Just put a Lap in on the in game time trial boards 108.....s The top guys are doing 102...-103..s but the ghost car I followed they were going straight through the cones on the long back straight middle section and the last esssses before the finish. Even if you can cheat without penality , not for me.

It doesn't make any sense to me why they wouldn't update that?
You cannot allway use strict logic - when human beings is involved.
Maybe the one guy being responsible for this decision had a puncture on his way to work.
Or maybe he is just a brasilian.
Copacabana you know :inlove:

With the last few builds dating back to Road America, I've gotten a sense that some content is being rushed out the door to hit the monthly build, rather than completed and fully implemented.

The 2022 Stockcar championship is just a copy and paste of the 2021 season.
Several of the tracks in the roster have been renamed in RL which makes it slightly difficult to figure out when trying to create a custom championship.

Galeão GP is actually called Aeroporto Internacional Tom Jobim

Goiânia is Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna

Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet...is that Santa Cruz do Sol?

Also, how do you sync your windows clock?
I'm having issues on several tracks having no real weather data available.
Edit: I figured out how to sync the clock :)

Would you be willing to share the 2022 calander? Working on the idea to do a stockcar series on Racedepartment racing club. Setting this as close to real as possible would be

Aren't the stock cars the best cars in the simulator? I would say so... Fantastic cars - they
drive and feel great and sound great.
they're the cars I use the most, love running them on the British circuits like it's the BTCC. I absolutely love touring cars and am waiting with bated breath for a game with a decent amount of super touring content that isn't dated at this point.

Wonderful sim and wonderful recreation. The race was quite fun to watch, if only they had English commentators.

Yeah the laptimes need to be reset as they could do those times before the v1.5.2 update which added those cones and barriers

How did you sync clock? Cheers.

Good thing that Mike didn't say that the second race was pure chaos for a brief moment due to rain, you will have the surprise by yourselves.

By the way, I did a quick wet race with GT3s and GT4s at the Galeão, and the thrill of it along with fighting to keep the car stable is to guess the reference points for the corners behind the spray of multiple cars ahead of you. It can hit a point where you're relying on the brake lights of anyone in front in the first hairpin because it's impossible to see the distance markers.

Had some time since I had this much thrill in a sim race, knowing that your mind has to be 100% in it, because the slightest lack of concentration can ruin your race.

Sounds like you haven't tried it since today's update, because now it's quite obvious;). You can even hit some of them and not getting away with it. It's also three or four seconds slower now per lap.

I used to love AMS1, but it's just not very authentic and AMS2 is so on point, it's unbelievable. Today I was watching this video and since both car and track is in AMS2 (and iRacing) I wanted to check if I can reproduce this 90° steering correction before Südkurve. The first laps nothing of this kind happened and I was a bit disappointed, but once the 'qualifying'-grip is over and the tyres got more heat, I had exactly the same oversteer in exactly the same spot with exactly the same 90° countersteer to avoid it. Unbef-inglievable and lap-times were a good match as well.

I'm sick of sim-racers claiming, they know better how racecars feel than AMS2 handles. Believe me, you are wrong:p. AMS2 is usually right and if you don't like how a racecar feels, it's not AMS2, it's the f-ing race-car and not all were great and not all handle as you would expect;).
Ahhh nice, Im still on vacation but I'll try the track again as soon as I'm back
