Recreating the Galeão GP in Automobilista 2

Galeao GP Race in AMS2.jpg
The 2022 Galeão GP was held last weekend in Rio, and Automobilista 2 gives you the chance to recreate this fast, fun event in the comfort of your home.

Many of us will find ourselves with a bit more extra time this weekend bit dint of the Easter long weekend. This might be the perfect time to recreate the Galeão GP, the exciting fourth race of the 2022 Stock Car Pro Series season.

The real life race was held last weekend in Rio de Janeiro at the Galeão airport. The extremely wide and long straightaways at Galeão mean you're flat out for most of your lap, with plenty of room to set up and execute an overtake into the braking zones.

The track is a great fit for the 2022 Stock cars in Automobilista 2. These cars are among a select few that have been given updated tires with stiffer sidewalls to date. The 450 horsepower V8 engines sound great racing wheel-to-wheel down the runways, and a little bit of rear end slip on corner exit make these cars a blast to drive at Galeão.

Here is how to set up the race in AMS2:
  • 2022 Stock Cars
  • Galeão Airport
  • April 10th, 2022
  • 30-minute race
  • 13:00 start time
  • Medium cloud
  • Rolling start
The real race featured two 30-minute races, so jump right back in for another session if you have the time. Allow for plenty of fuel, perhaps 80 liters, as the Stock Cars tend to be thirsty.

Here is a look at the real race from last weekend:

The beautiful Brazilian setting, the roaring V8s, and the close, fast racing action make this a great way to pass a half hour this weekend or any time.

If you've had a chance to create the Galeão GP in Automobilista 2, be sure to let us know in the comments below if you enjoyed it. Or, if you have another way to enjoy your long weekend with some bonus sim racing, let us know that as well.

The cars are great and the track combo is fun.

Tho I'm still scratching my head with Reiza's decisions
In the last update they added the 2022 Stockcar and Galaeo track just in time for the RL race that weekend, they added the 2022 stockcar season to the championship mode but they didn't add the Galaeo track to the 2022 schedule?

I was hoping it would be added in today's patch but I didn't ready any notes saying so.

It doesn't make any sense to me why they wouldn't update that?
Agree , and then this happened
2 hrs researching the Brazil stock car 2022 Championship season and setup a Custom season which added the new airport track all other tracks , times , dates race lengths start times etc. Saved championship after adding each track and after every edit. Here's the Disaster that turned me on fire! After completing the custom season edit, I pressed the back button to return to main menu and BOOM! no more season. This must be a simple fix that is Critical imho. Cheers, look forward to Reiza's response.

Single Race. Q Time & Race time The track is fast to learn and fun to race on. Thanks Mike for the suggestion. AI just a touch slow at 90 %

Not played hardly any AM2. Been trying to learn SIM racing in ACC. Maybe not the best game to learn in. Might have to reconsider as there's fun to be had in SIMs with varied content.

Is It just me or are the tyres really predictable lately in AMS2? Able to just hold slides in any car at large angles and the FFB feels weird also.
After so many updates I feel it has gone so far from AMS1. Super sucks as I've spent 1000 hours playing it and it seems to have lost me :(

This is an oversight that will be fixed in next update I believe.

There's something missing for me from AMS1, something about a real weightiness and connectedness, otherwise yeah they'd be the one of the best.,
The other thing I miss is the suspension compression that I can feel in the ffb, in the early builds.

That track is so weird, I never quite know where the track limits are supposed to be :D
Fun fact - Except for the obvious track limits with the cones and tire barriers, the stewards paid not much attention to the outside track limits on Sunday, in special after the last chicane.

You can open your line beyond the runway on the second hairpin, which makes it look more like a medium speed corner than a hairpin.

Fun to drive nice combo. Can you get the front tyres at a reasonable temp at this combo?

Yes, it's not up there yet with AMS 1. I think too it has to do with the sensation of the weight
transfer and the animation of the suspension, how they are connected. AMS 2 still for me
feels a bit 'floaty' in comparison to AMS 1, not much with these cars though. This is what I
perceive, anyway. Hopefully Reiza can soon improve these small, but important. details.

These tracks in old airports, like Sebring too, are not very attractive to race because
they are too flat and have no elevation changes, but they can be fun too to race
flat out. And, yeah, as some people say, you gotta take your time to learn them
because it's easy to miss the track limits, they are not very visible.

Well, I'm thinking about these fairly flat open tracks like this...

It's easy to see the competition -
how they are doing..
Sideways, If you're lacking.
In mirrors , if you're leading.

Sometimes, the cone is gone... :roflmao:

Sounds like you haven't tried it since today's update, because now it's quite obvious;). You can even hit some of them and not getting away with it. It's also three or four seconds slower now per lap.

I used to love AMS1, but it's just not very authentic and AMS2 is so on point, it's unbelievable. Today I was watching this video and since both car and track is in AMS2 (and iRacing) I wanted to check if I can reproduce this 90° steering correction before Südkurve. The first laps nothing of this kind happened and I was a bit disappointed, but once the 'qualifying'-grip is over and the tyres got more heat, I had exactly the same oversteer in exactly the same spot with exactly the same 90° countersteer to avoid it. Unbef-inglievable and lap-times were a good match as well.

I'm sick of sim-racers claiming, they know better how racecars feel than AMS2 handles. Believe me, you are wrong:p. AMS2 is usually right and if you don't like how a racecar feels, it's not AMS2, it's the f-ing race-car and not all were great and not all handle as you would expect;).

TRACKS
  • Galeao: Revised track according to actual event references; adjusted track elevations between T1 and T2, replaced the startlight gantry to match one used in actual event; update static concrete barriers, walls and dynamic cones; adjusted AI collision corridors at the chicane
It would be necessary to revise downwards (-50%) the telemetry(?) on this track because it stirs too much with a motion system. However, on almost all other tracks, my parameters are spot on! Despite a flat track, it's far from flat! :p

Not with my SimXperience GS-5 and G-Belt and IMO the big bump around the middle of the long straight could be a bit more steep like in the video.
