RaceRoom Release Donington Park Circuit

After the previous announcement that Donington would come to RaceRoom, KW Studios' patent-pending "Coming Soon" came true. Donington Park is now available as DLC for RaceRoom, just a week later.

With this classic race track, the development studio expands on its already impressive roster of native circuits. Donington Park is the third British track to be added to the seasoned sim, after Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

Donington Park Circuit and Its History

In case some of you don't know the illustrious history of Donington Park, it remains the oldest still running motor racing circuit in England. The first race on the permanent track happened in 1933.

Much of the track layout from that time still remains to this day, which makes Donington Park a unique throwback to classic circuits in these modern times.

The track nowadays is rather short for major racing series at 4 km or 2.5 miles. Racing series that regularly pay a visit to the park circuit include World Superbike, BTCC, Britcar and British GT.

Which Classes to Race at Donington?

Choosing from the vast roster of RaceRoom cars to race at Donington might be difficult. So here are a few combinations that might be interesting:
  • WTCR - Since the British Touring Car Championship regularly visit the track, next to several other touring car series, RaceRoom's top content of the WTCR cars must be a good fit. With many high-speed corners, negotiating these tourers in the slipstream to get ready to overtake at Starkey's Straight must be a sight to behold.
  • GTR 1 - RaceRoom's adaption of the FIA GT1 series from the early 2010s still holds up to this day. And seeing that these beasts raced on Donington in 2012, you can try and relive these not-too-far-away days.
  • FR90 - Donington Park hosted just a single Formula 1 race in 1993, and you can revive it these days with RaceRoom's excellent FR90 class.
  • GTR 3 + GTR 4 - This modern classic of combinations races on Donington through the Britcar and British GT championships.
Of course, you can try any other combination on the historic circuit. Since the DLC includes both the GP track as well as the National layout without the hairpins, even smaller cars like the NSU's can travel the track.

About the DLC

Donington Park is available via RaceRoom's in-game store for 499 vRP. That is 4.99€, £3.99 or $4.99.

Of course I'll buy it, I love this track. I would like to race here against other players with WTCR and DTM cars but there aren't enough servers, only ranked.

Be careful with the Raceroom Store. I just bought the Donington Park track with my VRP balance. I did not get a confirmation e-mail as usual and I do not have access to the track within the game. However, 499 VRP was deducted from my VRP balance but the transaction does not appear in my transaction history.

So, it seems that our friends at Sector 3 Studios have an issue with their billing system.

That may explain why I cannot get access to the Donington Park track. They unveil a new track for purchase and they schedule a server maintenance at the same time.

This may also explain why my usage history is wiped out on my profile as well.

The game is out of maintenance now, it always goes into maintenance when an update is released. The stats screen has been blank now for months, it's been put that way to reduce stress on the backend server.

I am a Software Developer myself. Usually, we do the server maintenance prior to introducing new items for sale. Doing it the other way around is asking for trouble.

weird, I bought it the minute it went online and it worked like a charm for me. Better contact support.

Love it love it love it!!! I know people moan about the graphics… but the old Donno drives superbly and it looks so good… I should know as I marshalled there for many many years, and spectate now regularly (just a short drive from my home)

just bought the whole bundle a couple of months ago and the game has improved massively from when i first tried it years ago. But recently online participation is dead!!!

Would have loved to buy this track but think i'll hold back for now.

dead is too big word

there is like 100-150 people on eu evenings which is normal number for this game when there isn't any big even going (yesterday there was more than that because there was 2.4h Spa with like 5+ full servers)
and with numbers like this it's fully playable and enjoyable

also they still not reloaded schedule (should happen 2 days ago) because they tryin to fix some timing bug on this track to include it so people are little bit tired of the combos after 2.5 weeks of the same things

Donington probably gonna get some traction from day1 but I feel like most of people adding tracks to their library during sales or when there is some league or event where it's needed because u have so many other ones if u bought premium that there is no reason to rush, lol

I'm playing this game over a year now and I still didn't even tested half of these tracks at all
not helping that I spend most of time on Nordschleife

100- 150 players an evening?? that's a massive lie, you are lucky to get 50 and they are split between the crash fest rookie races, the online in this game had potential but whoever runs it hasn't got a clue what they are doing

Currently almost midnight Euro time and there are 70. So I wouldn't say its a lie at all?
