RaceRoom’s Summer Sale On Now (and the Best Way to Buy Content)

RaceRoom Steam Sale 002.jpg
RaceRoom Racing Experience has announced their Summer Sale, which features all cars and tracks at 50% off, and all content packs at 25% off.

Developer Sector3 Studios recently announced that their RaceRoom Summer Sale is on now, and discounts will remain in effect until July 25th.
The sale is a significant one, featuring 50% off the regular price of all individual cars and tracks and a 25% discount off the regular price of content packs.

For those not aware of RaceRoom’s in-game purchasing system, the title uses its own currency, and users can use either a virtual wallet (vRP) or their Steam balance to buy content packs, individual cars and tracks, and even individual liveries a la carte. The virtual currency and purchasing system can be confusing for those new to RaceRoom, so below we’ll help you save some money by showing you the best way to purchase content for R3E.

But before we get into how to purchase content, it’s worth noting that RaceRoom is free-to-try, and there is a good selection of cars and tracks on offer as part of the free base game. Most of the mainstream tracks and car classes, however, are purchased separately.

There are a few ways to purchase content in RaceRoom. The most obvious being DLC on Steam, but this isn’t a system Sector3 has utilized for much of its content. Another way to purchase content is to browse the store in-game and use your Steam wallet rather than your VrP balance. But you should avoid this method and follow the steps below to save money.

The most efficient way to buy content is to preload your virtual wallet with vRP purchased through RaceRoom’s online store. When you purchase VrP, you’ll be emailed a code. This code can be used by logging into the RaceRoom game website using your Steam ID, and then clicking the redeem option under the wallet icon in the top right of the web page.

Redeeming the code loads the vRP balance you purchased into your wallet, which can then be used to purchase new content in game. The sim also has a test drive option when browsing cars in the in-game store, which allows you to try out the cars at any of five tracks before you buy it.

RaceRoom has enjoyed a following in the sim community for almost a decade, and continues to receive significant updates including a recent overhaul of its force feedback system.

For those looking to try out some of their new content, be sure to join us for a race in our Simracing.gp community. We feature regular races in R3E, including our incredibly fun daily WTCR races.

Let us know in the comments below what content you plan to buy during the RaceRoom Summer Sale.

I must say it's quite off putting to see, a couple years after I bought the premium pack, that there is 69 cars and 19 tracks I don't own (and I bought a few cars and tracks after I bought the premium pack) that people who buy this pack today have without paying the 170 EUR (less if using VRP and buying packs, but still, and it's the sale price) I would have to pay to get them... Great way to reward old loyal customers and to push them away.

So you would rather that old loyal customers no longer get new content and the manufacturer stops its development completely???

I haven't driven RaceRoom for a long time but the new FFB and physics system really impressed me. Now I have only waited for the Summer Sale and will definitely give RR a chance again. Thanks a lot for this article! Here's what I was thinking for the purchase:
Buy 5000 vRP for 34,99 Euro and the "Starter Pack". It currently costs only 749 vRP includes 10 cars from different classes and 5 tracks. Just with the car selection in this pack you are already reasonably well supplied and there are still 4251 vRP left for more tracks and cars that I would like to drive. That way, there should end up being something left over for new content in the future, and then it's all good.

EDIT:
My calculation wasn't that bad, but when I started testing some cars (very good move Sector3 Studios!), I quickly realized that 120 cars and 35 tracks can't be calculated at all. It became impossible to leave out any car, the new update is just awesome! So I went all in and bought the premium pack :D Where else can you get so much content for that money?

Is that so complicated to understand how it can be off putting to being asked 100+€ to get the same thing newcomers can get for a lot less?

I never said there should not be any new content, not even close, but there must be some solutions to make people who bought the premium pack long ago less disadvantaged without negative effect on Sector3 income.

For example they could allow to buy the premium pack multiple times with some limitations and a fair calculation of its cost to, at the same time, not pay again what you already have, but also prevent from buying it with each new released to get it for very cheap.

Maybe it could be limited to one purchase every 2 years, or being accessible only if you don't own at least 20 or 30% of its content to prevent people from buying it on each new release (and push them to not wait to buy the releases they want the most). It could be worth it for Sector3, with many buyers (me included) who would put like 25-30€ every 2 years to buy 2 years of content and keep the game complete regardless of what they are interested in or not, and who currently don't buy most of the content individually (I just finished to spend my last VRP of the 10000 I bought in 2016 or 2017 to get the premium pack, which represents like 30-35€ of content bought in 4-5 years, and there is many other cars/tracks I would like to have but am not ready to pay the sum of their individual price, while I would pay the same amount for the whole content I don't own).

I totally agree with that. Being a Premium member since 2019, at the moment, it would make more sense for me to start a new premium account. I was even willing to purchase the new content through the packs for 69 USD (what you already have is deducted) but to add insult to the injury, adding the packs is not enough. You need to handpick the cars that you don't already have and that are not in packs one by one with their respective liveries (ex.: old Porsche 911). This is too much of a headache. The formula proposed by pinkimo makes sense, The creators should just enable us to update the content in one click with possibly a discount for long time owners.
I wanted to support the devs, but something is not right, so I will stick to what I already have.
See you at the next sale, hopefully, by then, they would have figured something innovative.

And if you buy those track packs, you won't be able to buy them again in a couple years with a couple tracks added to each of them.
The simple fact that it's worth it to create a new steam account to buy the premium pack again shows that this business model is flawed.
