Following seven years under the stewardship of Milestone, later this year a new MXGP will be created by Kylotonn.

The FIM Motocross World Championship will receive a new video game later this year, as Kylotonn releases its first dirt motorcycle racing title.

The studio must be busier than a Parisien café currently, as before Endurance Motorsport Series launches next year, it will release an all-new official MXGP platform.

This will mark a return to two-wheeled game production for the company since 2020’s Isle of Man TT: Ride on the Edge 2 – last year’s TT ROTE 3 was created by RaceWard instead.

There is only a teaser video so far, without gameplay, but we can tell you is that all the real-world muddy tracks from the actual championship, plus the bikes and the riders, will be included.

The current release date is “late” 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

“Players will be able to explore behind the scenes of the world’s most iconic motocross championship,” claims publisher Nacon. If this means a single-player campaign such as that seen in prior WRC games and shared with the recent Overpass 2 remains to be seen.

MXGP FIM Game 2024 KT Racing

This follows the news last year that KT Racing acquired the licence. Previously, these games were created by Milestone for nearly a decade, and across seven releases, but no more. The Italian studio has also seen Monster Energy Supercross become available in Rainbow Studio’s MX vs ATV Legends.

When this new MXGP game arrives in a few months, we expect a fresh experience compared to the prior releases – we hope to find out sooner rather than later.

If they want this game to have legs they need to either put in a track editor or have means to import tracks.

In all honesty the previous MXGP games were pretty damn good, they looked good, they played well, But if you played one, then you pretty much played them all. And I don't see the real-world series has a big enough audience that they will buy the product every years just to have some virtual representation with the riders they are fans of.

I still find it hard to believe no one has managed to better the height-terrain system for tracks that was in MCM 2.

Yes, no specific features have been mentioned yet - hopefully we will find out across the year.
