A new NASCAR game is on its way, but it is not going to be a simulator: NASCAR Arcade Rush has been announced for 2023 release on PC and consoles. But just how much NASCAR is going to be in the game?

It is already in the name that the game is not aimed at sim racers per se, but a rather casual audience instead. NASCAR Arcade Rush promises "heart-pumping, high-speed competition and action of one of the world's top motorsports with wildly reimagined spins on NASCAR's most legendary tracks."

Interestingly, these tracks mostly seem to be inspirations for the settings of circuits but are not the trademark ovals NASCAR races on for the majority of the season. Thus far, Talladega, Daytona, Darlington, Martinsville and Homestead are confirmed to be in the game, and the screenshots available with the announcement show the circuits resembling those of kart racers.

Considering publisher GameMill Entertainment's experience with titles of this nature, this should come as no surprise: The studio's portfolio includes the Nickelodeon Kart Racers series, Cruisn' Blast and Monster Jam Crush It, all of which feature elements like outrageous jumps, fireworks and physics-defying turns.

Cars from 75 Years of History

NASCAR Arcade Rush is going to feature different vehicles from the 75-year history of Stock Car racing. The vehicles will be customizable with paint schemes, rims, spoilers and visual effects, while their drivers can be equipped with different race suits and helmets. No car manufacturers are visible in the available game art so far.

Game modes are set to include a Cup Series career mode, quick race and time attack for the single-player portion of the game, while a 12-car online multiplayer mode will be available alongside a split-screen mode, allowing for local races with friends.

NASCAR Arcade Rush can be preordered for $49.99 already. A digital-exclusive Project-X Bundle is available at $59.99, which adds the following bonuses:

  • A hovercraft car model developed as part of Project-X
  • Project-X paint scheme, rims, wheels, and spoiler
  • Project-X themed drivers suit and helmet
  • Project-X team sponsorship option
  • Project-X vehicle FX package
  • A set of four additional in-game emojis

The game will be available on PC, Playstation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. An exact release date has not been given yet.

F1 Race Stars flashback, I can already tell it wont be a great success and will be on discount shortly after release date.

It can't be more gimmicky than the real thing anyway. Nascar has become a joke that rivals wwe, but wwe never tries to pretend to be real at least.

Sorry but i expect a PROPER SIM to cost 50 euros, what content will the game have to justify such a huge price ? Also paying 10 euros on top for some pointless garbage that someone did in thier spare 10 minutes of time, so the game costs 60, are they MAD ?!?

Also doing this with the Nascar license when there wasn't a decent Nascar game in like 3 years and an actually good one in 17 (!) years. Disgrace.

Hot Wheels Unleashed was a similar price new I think, and that ended up being a highly rated arcade game. Time will tell. The last arcade NASCAR game I played was futuristic cartoon-derivce racer "NASCAR Racers" (I'll cover it on my YouTube channel one day!)

This is not the insane announcement that some perceive it to be.

NASCAR has a good history with arcade racers , with NASCAR Rumble being a beloved PS1 title for many, and 2011's NASCAR Unleashed being surprisingly underrated.

orry but i expect a PROPER SIM to cost 50 euros,
You make it sound like you want to pay a cent per physic calculation instead just want to have fun... it really does not mater one jota if the game is a proper sim or a nascar mario cart clone. The bottom line is always: Is it fun and is it fun for long enough to justify to waste your money on the fun.

And don't get me wrong, I am all about bitching about a racing sim which tries to be a sim (at least according to the marketing material), but doesn't achieve it's goals. Like project cars 3 or to lesser extend am2. We have every right to complain about those, but games that are meant to be arcade, advertise themselves as arcade racers? The only true measurement for a game is if it's fun to you.

The names and addresses of anyone who spends $60 on the special edition of this should be taken down. They should then be systematically rounded up and sent to the best mental asylums in the world. Those people would need serious help!
