A front-mid-engine race car version of the road-going sports car, the GT2 features a 4.0-litre twin-turbo engine with a flat-plane crank. In 2022, the AMG GT ‘Track Series’ version was allowed to race in the GT2 European Series, but for the most recent season, a formal GT2-spec model was launched.
Fun fact, Fanatec CEO Thomas Jackermeier drove one of these for one round in last year’s GT2 European Series.
You may also recognise a small logo on its steering wheel, representing a partnership between the Affalterbach-based car company and Cube Controls who create a three-pointed-star-branded sim racing wheel.
The AMG follows the announcement of five additional cars for the upcoming set which includes two Porsche varieties, the Maserati MC20, Audi R8 and KTM X-Bow.
Below is the initial list of cars that developer Kunos Simulazioni co-founder Marco Marco Massarutto expressed the desire to include upon the 2022 announcement of GT2 inclusion. We’ve struck off everything confirmed so far:
Recently, Brabham Group & Brabham Automotive parted ways, causing the cessation of the BT62 and BT63 programmes. It casts doubt over licencing possibilities, let’s see in the fullness of time if it can make it into Assetto Corsa Competizione.
PlayStation and Xbox versions are yet to be confirmed, or if a new circuit is to be included (or not).
The Nürburgring Nordschleife is expected later in the year as part of a separate set.
Will you be competing with the GT2 cars upon their launch for ACC? Let us know in the comments below.
