Laguna Seca is the Latest Confirmed Content Coming to rFactor 2

A busy period of announcements from the Studio 397 development team continued today with the confirmation the Laguna Seca will soon be available in rFactor 2.

The rapid-fire release news coming from the Studio 397 team continued today with the announcement that the Laguna Seca circuit will be coming to rFactor 2.

This announcement was somewhat surprising, as it breaks the trend of British content being confirmed for the sim. The second quarterly content release for rFactor 2, scheduled for this month, has previously been confirmed to include Donington Park, Brands Hatch and BTCC cars as new DLC.

The WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is a long-standing racing circuit located in Monterey, California. Like the previous circuit announcement for rFactor 2, Brands Hatch, Laguna Seca has a presence across a large number of racing sims and racing games.

The track's most famous section is the complex containing turns 7, 8 and 8a, known as the corkscrew. The sequence drops several stories of elevation in a matter of seconds, and features a blind entry.

Laguna Seca is home to numerous race series currently including INDYCAR, which will be a perfect fit for rFactor 2 since it already offers the Dallara IR18 as DLC.

Laguna Seca and the rest of the previously announced DLC should be available to us this month.

The new content looks great, but I don't like it when they put up so much billboards with the name of the company that I bought the content from. Bit immersion breaking.
I'm a succes for original advertising.
Some are very iconic to the whole setting. Now you get confronted with the same brand 10x times on every corner. At every track.
Couldn't agree more, I brought this up on their forum and many agreed with me but they completely ignored the subject. They don't care at all(as always). It's indeed immersion breaking.

Besides that: an another track announced, but still no working multiplayer and still a pre-alpha engine with so many old content that is still terrible/old/not fixed. Come on, work on/fix all the bugs first, make sure that multiplayer servers with good official content(instead of mod's that look like they come from the stone ages) are hosted an WORKING stable, fix all the old cars, balance them out and bring them all to an equal level visually and in terms of handling'/physics. THEN release new tracks! Without that, all new content is absolute nonsense.

Sooo glad they are putting out more content!! Especially since I finally dumped Iracing which I should have done a long time ago. Hopefully much more to come.

I've always been under the impression that "real" company billboards are product placement and a source of revenue? I'm not in the biz and don't know how it works but it seems logical that would be the case. The S397/MSG billboards are a bit of an immersion killer. I'll live :)
You are correct when you have a game that is fully licensed like Codemasters F1 or even the Nascar Ignition. But rF2 is a stepchild and has to negotiate rights individually. They apparently made a decision some time ago their funding could be better spent on other items. Heck, in the old days there would be a half dozen variants out already with year specific signage...(same track different sponsor WHY BOTHER??) I've always been one who appreciates details but I don't have the skill to admire track signs whilst I'm desperatelly trying to stay on the black strip.

Honestly this is the silver lining in the MSGM fiasco that's been brewing for a while now.

With all of their "games" supposedly being built on the rF platform, if things ever go tits up they can just sell the assets they created as DLC for rFactor 2.

Donington + Brands + BTCC cars were most likely created for the BTCC game that's... vanished, meanwhile the IR18 and Laguna were probably the first pieces worked on for the 2023 Indy game.

How long until they announce a NASCAR Gen 7 car?

Brands Hatch, Donington Park and now Laguna Seca.

Wow!!! Three tracks coming to rFactor2 as a DLC, how many bucks?
Three tracks that are "Standard" in the base Version of nearly any racing sim/game?
Three tracks that are (to be expected) still behind graphics in any other Sim?
Three tracks already available as free (less or more well done) mods?

rf2 must really have a hardcore fanbase that accepts this!

Don't understand me wrong, I like rf2 too because of the great physics, the multi-player etc. But if they are going to continue with that strange policy selling "Standard" stuff as DLC i am not sure if there is a real future for it.

First they should fix their general problems regarding graphics, stability, performance etc., in the next step give people the possibility to buy a Season pass as long as the game is in let's say "beta state".
So they can fill it up with all the standard content next without charging for every single car and track.

When done please support us with some extraordinary exclusive stuff that no other Sim has to offer, get an exclusive license for whatever series that is not present on the market so far.

Then I am sure I am getting a fan instead of a very critical player.
Yes I agree with you about them wanting to sell "standard" tracks as DLC. They also manly give basic standard features as updates like UI, AI, etc. I think it may work mainly for hardcore fans who mainly or exclusively play RF2. Most of them likely not aware on what is happening elsewhere. And it's fair , this is how market works. And I agree with them need to fix general problems also, may be it's only me but I don't remember a single day I started Rf2 and was able to enjoy racing immediately for hours, there was always a technical issue from here and there. For example yesterday the off_road FFB almost destroyed my wheel , I tried to edit the ini file but no success. Some value goe over the physical safe areas. The sim desperately need to be simplified and some parameters need to be exposed not locked to rock age .ini editing method. For the moment this sim don't give back the love we give to it. It's a love to hate transformer machine. It's a deep problem when devs systematically need community critics to improve a sim instead of detecting themselves what players want and act accordingly. If they were more open about what RF2 players really needed for the past 5 years, they could also avoid this MSG acquisition...just saying.

For ACC only Brands was included in the base package. Donnington is DLC , same for Laguna.
For AC, Laguna was included, Brands was DLC, & No Donnington.
Project Cars 2, Laguna and Brands, but no Donnie
So some of your list 'may' have been in base versions, but not all. But feel free to advise S397 to skip these tracks and give us what? Other tracks already available on other products? How many tracks are there that haven't been covered by somebody already? S397 is not selling DLC to users of other products, (although almost every sim racer crosses over to other titles) They are providing content not yet officially available to their system, not Ian Bell's or Kunos' et al.

all American Indycar tracks, when S397 has been a Euro-centric Endurance product. It is only with the MSG Indycar license that opened up those avenues to S397 including it's new IR18. (I'm shocked you didn't mention Mid Ohio or Road America or, probably two that fit S397 the best, Watkins Glen & Road Atlanta) I suspect, we'll see more of those & more Brit tracks in the next two Quarterly releases.
(Really? Nashville? a traffic accident waiting to happen, no sight lines to the S/F line, no emergency access to the center of the bridge....yikes!)((sorry, had to add that!)) :)

He told the same stories in the other recent RF2 news threads. Come on, enough is enough, it's getting annoying:
He was just pointing out where he thought the dlc had originated from, in fact his opening sentence was a positive one. Yes he's mentioned the btcc dlc once but added some speculation about the rest.
If you wish to refute his points fine you don't need to agree with him, if he breaks our ToS Board Rules you have the report button but personal attacks are not on.

Just remember, the last quick left turn, before going uphill to meet the
corkscrew is really nasty car-wrecker. :roflmao: Seems to be sand on the track, too ! (Race07).
I hate that corner, I either turn in too early or too late, either way I spend a lot of time in the kitty litter on the exit (either 2 or all 4 wheels!).
