Laguna Seca is the Latest Confirmed Content Coming to rFactor 2

A busy period of announcements from the Studio 397 development team continued today with the confirmation the Laguna Seca will soon be available in rFactor 2.

The rapid-fire release news coming from the Studio 397 team continued today with the announcement that the Laguna Seca circuit will be coming to rFactor 2.

This announcement was somewhat surprising, as it breaks the trend of British content being confirmed for the sim. The second quarterly content release for rFactor 2, scheduled for this month, has previously been confirmed to include Donington Park, Brands Hatch and BTCC cars as new DLC.

The WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is a long-standing racing circuit located in Monterey, California. Like the previous circuit announcement for rFactor 2, Brands Hatch, Laguna Seca has a presence across a large number of racing sims and racing games.

The track's most famous section is the complex containing turns 7, 8 and 8a, known as the corkscrew. The sequence drops several stories of elevation in a matter of seconds, and features a blind entry.

Laguna Seca is home to numerous race series currently including INDYCAR, which will be a perfect fit for rFactor 2 since it already offers the Dallara IR18 as DLC.

Laguna Seca and the rest of the previously announced DLC should be available to us this month.

If they continue to improve the AI, I'll buy the heck out of this. Multiclass AI racing with Cadillac DPi (and the Acura mod), LMP2s and lots of GT3s, with IMSA skins at a first-party Laguna with dynamic weather... chef's kiss :inlove: That's the dream! :roflmao:

Brands Hatch, Donington Park and now Laguna Seca.

Wow!!! Three tracks coming to rFactor2 as a DLC, how many bucks?
Three tracks that are "Standard" in the base Version of nearly any racing sim/game?
Three tracks that are (to be expected) still behind graphics in any other Sim?
Three tracks already available as free (less or more well done) mods?

rf2 must really have a hardcore fanbase that accepts this!

Don't understand me wrong, I like rf2 too because of the great physics, the multi-player etc. But if they are going to continue with that strange policy selling "Standard" stuff as DLC i am not sure if there is a real future for it.

First they should fix their general problems regarding graphics, stability, performance etc., in the next step give people the possibility to buy a Season pass as long as the game is in let's say "beta state".
So they can fill it up with all the standard content next without charging for every single car and track.

When done please support us with some extraordinary exclusive stuff that no other Sim has to offer, get an exclusive license for whatever series that is not present on the market so far.

Then I am sure I am getting a fan instead of a very critical player.

They might have a shady CEO but at least they are giving rfactor 2 a lot of love
If I was an investor I would really care about mastering and polishing of rF2. Because it is going to be main foundation of everything else. New titles they plan to make absolutely depends on how good rF2 will be understood and devs adapted to it in order to control it as much as possible. If they have a chance they should also hire ISI guys, and give them that money. The cancelation of particular titles is correct call - they must put the muscles on rF2. And if they are lucky they gonna rock the racing games sphere in future.

developers normally have different teams to produce new content and code the game, even Reiza have that despite being quite a small team compared to iRacing, ACC,etc

and rf2 is getting this content alongside some fixes and improvements on sounds, tire model and AI strat. There is no point in putting a 3D Modeler to try to code the game

did you complained about them being DLC in ACC as well?

Premium
I have not turned a lap in rF2, but the addition of Laguna Seca is especially appealing with the sim's great vintage racing offerings--most of which are free. Monterrey Historics anyone?

The track appears to be missing all of the yellow sausage curbs that are present in real life. Maybe they haven't been added yet?

Nice track to have, but hard for a game in this current state to charge top money for all of these tracks when there are so many things to fix.

I'm fairly certain rF2 was always meant to be a stopgap till the IndyCAR game was completed.
This is a huge plus for rF2, I agree the May Content drop is shaping up nicely.
Hope there is more to come.
lmao there is no way Motorsports Games is making that Indycar game with how they're looking.

The new content looks great, but I don't like it when they put up so much billboards with the name of the company that I bought the content from. Bit immersion breaking.
I'm a succes for original advertising.
Some are very iconic to the whole setting. Now you get confronted with the same brand 10x times on every corner. At every track.
I'm sure you would be glad to double the cost? And double the time til it's available as each sponsor has to be negotiated with. Just sayin'

I've always been under the impression that "real" company billboards are product placement and a source of revenue? I'm not in the biz and don't know how it works but it seems logical that would be the case. The S397/MSG billboards are a bit of an immersion killer. I'll live :)

Differentiation of content would be great, I agree. And that's often my feeling with modern sims (and why I think modding is so important, cause it can overcome first party content limitations).

But honestly, given rF2 is where it is right now, adding high quality versions of super popular and common tracks like Laguna, Brands, and Donington that were conspicuously missing (other than dodgy rips) is a solid move towards getting it "on a level field" content-wise with other sims. Given how rF2 pitches itself as striving for the ultimate sim, not having these sorts of tracks would just be strange.

I wish these were different tracks to be honest. There are already amazing and lasered versions of all 3 of these. These kind of serve to further break up an already small base that lives off leagues.
