Ken Block, Father of Modern Gymkhana, Found Dead After Snowmobile Accident

World-renowned rally driver Ken Block has been reported dead after a snowmobile accident. The 55-year-old American left behind a family of 4, including his wife and three children.

The racer and YouTube star was found and pronounced dead at the scene near his ranch in Utah, USA. While riding on snowy slopes near Woodland, Utah, his snowmobile "upended, landing on top of him", police exclaimed.

Ken Block was known as a lover of motorsport and different action sports, such as skateboarding, snowboarding and motocross.

His claim to fame across many-a-car lovers' memories would be the famous Gymkhana videos on YouTube. In those videos, he would race across different cities in style, drifting and jumping his way across the streets.

A long-standing member and even co-owner of the Hoonigan racing team, his escapades would happen using Subarus, Fords and Audis, mostly tuned by Hoonigan.

Rest in Peace, Ken Block. And our condolences to the whole Block family from the RaceDepartment community.

Incredibly sad day for anyone who likes cars.Ken may not have achieved much competitively in rallying & rallycross but he is as significant & recognisable in motorsport as Senna,Earnhardt or Sebastian Loeb.Incredible videos & promoted himself and the brands he represented in such a creative & imaginitive way.
There must be millions of gear or petrol heads that would not have taken an interest in motorsport if Ken had not got them interested in the first place.
RIP

Such a loss for motorsport, and a legend gone way too soon... My condolences to his family.

This tragedy adds importance to the phrase "Carpe Diem", "Seize the Day". As who knows how many more days are left. Do what you love :inlove:, and make it count for something!

Hopefully Ken's now setting some times on a rally stage against McRae and Burns... also gone too soon. RIP Ken.

Such sad news. Ken was just an awesome guy. He left some of the most legendary car footage on the planet and I think we will cherish his Hoonigan videos even more now. Legend.

And with that the world loses a pretty amazing person. Sad news to start the year.

You couldn't call him a good racer so I never took him seriously as he was more gifted as an advertising icon and stunt driver but he was a special personality and he inspired a lot of people. I feel very sorry for his family and especially his children, with his job and his hobbies you always had to reckon with serious accidents, as in many other dangerous jobs, only much much less well paid (e.g. police, fire brigade), but really worse one fades out, a big child with a lot of heart is now gone.

Guy was innovative, skilled and passionate! He was a net PLUS for the automotive community. Never heard a story of him doing anyone wrong. He leaves a positive legacy and my thoughts are with his family. If you believe in the "universe", maybe our happy thoughts can collectively provide comfort to his loved ones and friends.

R.I.P.

Ken, you will be unforgettable in this world. You've made the drifting and the whole motorsport better.

Thank you for everything.
