Have Your Say - What’s Your Next Major Sim Racing Purchase?

Next Major Sim Hardware Purchase 01.jpg
Continuing our Have Your Say series, today we want to know what you plan to buy for your next major sim racing purchase.

Sim racing is an ever-evolving hobby. The best hardware or software in your price range from today may be eclipsed by something newer or better next year. Those of us with a bit of extra money to spend on our hobby are always on the lookout for ways to improve our immersion and enjoyment.

With Black Friday sales right around the corner, many of us in the sim community are plotting our next big buy. We want to know in the comments below what yours will be. For some of you it might be a game you’ve been waiting for a sale on. For others it might be upgrading to a direct drive wheel or a load cell brake pedal. Or maybe you’ve finally saved enough money to buy that motion setup.

Often the buildup to a big purchase is as exciting as clicking the “Buy Now” button itself. Researching a specific type of hardware and learning which brands and products stand out in their respective field, for example, adds to the excitement of adding it to your rig. If you’re at that stage, or still early in the research process, let us know in the comments below. And if you see someone looking for feedback on a product you already own, be sure to help them out by sharing your own experiences with it.

CSL DD ps5 version with the leaked round rim. Looks quite ugly but I need all the buttons after getting used to the McLaren wheel :roflmao:
I want a round rim and the csl DD. Hopefully it will be released before GT7…

My rig is fairly built out after a mad spending spree earlier this year. However I'm looking at adding motion actuators to it sometime early next year. Then possibly the Varjo Aero VR headset, and then also the Pimax 12K QLED VR headset once it's available late next year. You can never have too many VR headsets.

Thrustmaster load cell pedal set. The leap from a Logitech G25 to a good wheel is too expensive right now, so a good pedal set seems like a better option.

Would like to get into a VR headset but every time I look the prices are high or the brands are wrong (not gonna convince me to buy your stuff, facebook, even if it's called the meta oculus)

bought the CSL DD with boost kit already, awaiting shipment, should be here within a week. About to order the Formula V2 and some sort of closed/round rim with the Clubsport hub

next years upgrade path -
new GPU
either an ultrawide monitor or triples (still can't decide)
Simforge Mark 1 pedals
Ailogs Sequential Shifter
either an 8020 rig or enough new wood material to build a DIY
Sparco Grid Q seat

hope to have my vision completed and built by summer

Please no. I finally took a break from rig upgrades. I'll just race and enjoy for a while.

Thankfully I found another hobby that's kept me from spending more on my rig. No wait mechanical keyboards are a nightmare in disguise.

In my dreams: a new 8000 dollar pc (Adler Lake, a 1000 dollar MB 64GB DDR5, RTX 3090, fully watercooled,
In reality: a new keyboard with FFB in WSAD

Nothing major for me unless I really spend silly. I think simracing has become a hobby beyond my means :(. I'm using mid to low end stuff which is starting to frustrate me but the cost of upgrading would be astronomical.

Nothing , my system is complete and I feel no need for any upgrades.
Fanatec DD1
Fanatec Mclaren GT3 V2 wheel ( Only wheel I have and want , I use it for everything , even rally , perfect wheel )
TrakRacer TR80 rig with inverted pedal mount
HE Pro Pedals
49" Ultrawide monitor
The only thing that will get the next upgrade will be the normal computer upgrades that come from the release of newer CPU's and GPU's.

Just ordered the new wireless button box for my Accuforce V2…..can’t wait to try it out!

Nothing soon. With travels restrictions being lifted in many places, I'm looking forward to my first trip abroad in 4 years next summer! Depending on the state of the pandemic, it will be Germany & Austria (and maybe the Austrian GP) or the American North West, so I'm saving up.

hmm. maybe a proper aluminum cockpit. I have a decent steel one now but I eventually want to go DD and i need something sturdier. And eventually some motion.

you can build that PC for half that. So it might be more possible than you think

My currency & location isn't favorable so hopefully the entry level into Fanatec's ecosystem once everything is finally in stock and available to ship to my end of the world. I will need to be patient until early '22 while continuing to watch everyone's unboxing and first impressions videos. I just hope by then a load cell kit will be available for the CSL pedals. Purchased an Xbox & G923 about a year ago to test the waters and since bought a gaming PC so now definitely need the hardware upgrade. CONFIRMED

My rig has not seen any updates since more then two years now. Still, for just as long, I'm feeling tempted to build me a SFX100, sometimes even on the edge of ordering the parts, but always backing out due to not being sure, if it will actually be worth it for me, because somehow, I'm not missing anything while driving...
