Following the announcement of the February release date, now Le Mans Ultimate has showcased the Ferrari 499P for the first time.

As the official simulation of the French endurance race and FIA World Endurance Championship, Le Mans Ultimate has previously confirmed that it will include the entire 2023-season grid. But, up until this point, the models of only five vehicles have been showcased.

In fact, despite the release date being pencilled in for two months’ time, gameplay footage has been surprisingly sparse. That is set to change this week, with videos showcasing the reigning Le Mans champion on track expected to be shared tomorrow, 21st December.

Before then, a slick teaser trailer of the Ferrari 499P has been released, using mainly real-world footage before the presumed in-engine static rendering is showcased.

Our first sight of the Hypercar Prancing Horse in the game marks what’s claimed to be the official virtual debut of the model which took Maranello to its first 24 Hours of Le Mans victory in 58 years. That win came after a 50-year absence from the top category.

“Having the opportunity to work with such an incredible group of individuals at Ferrari, which is of course is one of the most well-known brands in the world, has been a pleasure,” says Dom Duhan, Head of the Motorsport Games-owned developer Studio 397.

“Our technical collaboration has allowed us to replicate the intricacies of the real-world car and without Ferrari’s engineering and dedicated input it would undoubtedly have been a bigger challenge to bring the 499P to life.”

Further to the claims that Ferrari has been involved with the development, it’s stated that the development team received CAD from the Scuderia to recreate the car, with Ferrari Esports drivers providing handling feedback.

While it’s not stated specifically which drivers have been assisting with development, with Le Mans Ultimate being a rFactor 2 progeny, we’d be shocked if Ferrari Esports’ race-winners on that platform – Timotej Andonovski, Dennis Jordan and Alex Siebel – weren’t involved.

Now that the 499P has been displayed, of the premier class, the Cadillac V-Series.R, Glickenhaus SCG 007 LMH and Vanwall Vandervell 680 remain to be seen within Le Mans Ultimate. The latter is currently available for rFactor 2 purchase while a licenced SCG mod is also available for the elder platform.

The Ferrari follows the likes of the Porsche 963 and Peugeot 9X8, both of which were recently showcased for the upcoming title. The Toyota GR010 Hybrid was unveiled during last month’s release date trailer.

Le Mans Ultimate will also include the GTE and LMP2 field, plus the circuits of this season with ranked online and asynchronous multiplayer expected. It’s pegged for a 20th February 2024 release via Steam.

We’ll be back tomorrow with further insight, provided the anticipated 499P gameplay footage is of note. Let us know your expectations for Le Mans Ultimate in the comments below.

Sorry but that changes nothing and is an excuse.

I asked why would you use such a bad photo, screenshot whatever should not have passed first inspection to headline new content and article ?

Can you blame anyone for being paranoid ?
7 pages of news since last rF2 article, a small one on server system.
Before that you bagged MSG again and news before that yes another bagging.

Every other sim even GTR2 enjoys special stories, best tracks, best mods, how to enjoy the sim more, how to enjoy oval racing on anything but rF2 which has nascar and Indy.

What have you ever done like that for rF2, I mean ever ?

You are part of the problem dragging S397 and it's modders and families down at Christmas.
Hope you and your Family have a great Christmas Break and the New Year brings new possibilities:)

raceroom, acc, with the last updates, have a far better driving feeling than rF2, which has lost now, the driving feeling in rF2 was the reason to play with it....

edit : the new BMW M2 is the perfect example to state what rF2 is, it's no more the glorious FFB from 2017....the tyres are weird with only rubber effect, no colum/rack force...

I must say I am more hyped for this than I should be. I really like the Hypercar class and I am missing a consistent and balanced high quality package for any sim. rFactor 2 as a base for LMU received many QoL improvements lately, even for the AI. However, rF2 is missing the content itself, and even the content it has looks outdated mostly (looking at the Oreca especially). I hope LMU takes the best bits from rF2, applies all the QoL improvements and possibly more, and gives us a streamlined consistent experience in single player as well as in the quality of its content. This has so much potential. I am not really a fan of MSG but I hope this release goes through smoothly and the sims releases in a good state.

Looking forward to the gameplay!

I'd probably just go outside a bit more, and not get so worked up over a computer game.

I am really, really looking forward for this title. I've been dreaming for a WEC official Sim for years and I hope this can be exactly what I expect it to be.

Probably my most eagerly anticipated title at the moment (and for a long time), really hoping a cohesive product that works out of the box is released.

Yeah right you mean real footage nothing to do with the sim

'Working out of the box on release' is an unusual thing nowadays :D

I mean, releasing a PC game with all the different variations in computer components is difficult enough, add in the different combinations of wheels/pedals/shifters/screens/VR that we sim racers have - it must be a minefield; so I think there are bound to be bugs.

I do think it will come out with it mostly working.
There will be bugs - but as long as those bugs are squished periodically then I'll be happy.

I do believe S397 and MSG know they can't fail and S397's team had the talent to deliver a polished product at launch. Any game flaw will be used to bash MSG as mich as possible, more than for any other game (just read the bashing there about a video in an annoucement of a gampelay footage publication). It is a difficult and stressful situation for the people involved, I wish them good luck.

Ohh yes.

Anything incorrect, any small bug will be jumped on like a pile of rabid dogs.

The MSG chaps on the rF2 Discord are a great bunch, and have done loads of good work on the sim recently (the new online system being one of them), so I keep everything crossed. :)

Considering how far the bar has been lowered for new releases over the last couple of years, This should come out of the gate swinging.

Not a fan of rF2 but still looking forward to this game.
