Fanatec Reveals More About Upcoming Rally Button Module

Fanatec Shares More About Rally Wheel 01.jpg
Sim hardware manufacturer Fanatec has shared more details about its upcoming Podium Button Module Rally.

Hardware manufacturer Fanatec unveiled a few more pictures of an as-yet unreleased product today, and shared many more details of what customers can expect from their Podium Button Module Rally.

While the ordering of the words in the name Podium Button Module Rally may be questioned, the quality cannot. Much like their BMW M4 GT3 wheel, Fanatec's Button Module Rally is designed to be equivalent to what is used in real racing. The same button module can be found in the 2022 Ford Puma Hybrid Rally1 WRC cars.

While most of the photos of the Button Module Rally show the unit as a complete wheel assembly, Fanatec was careful to note that the button module is actually mounted to a other Fanatec wheels, which are sold separately.

The unit will feature:
  • nine buttons with RGB backlighting
  • two D-pads
  • three 12-way multi-position switches
  • a 1” OLED display
No official word has yet been given on pricing or availability dates.

I was bored of ACC the other day so decided try some rally, had a spare wheel in the shed and used a Simucube QR plus a sequential shifter.

Wheel was a cheap OMP from eBay £30 plus QR £70 button Box I had anyway so about £100. Fanatec can go suck egg's. I'm finally out of their ecosystem and Never intended on going back.

Who said anything about 'serious rally sim'?
you said they are taking rally more serious, but unless you are a rally driver there is no point for simracers, because all these rotaries wont have any function because all ''rally sims'' are arcade games for now.

This ''rally'' buttonbox gonna be more useful in ACC actually.

OK what I actually said was...

Yes finally! Glad to see fanatec taking rally seriously. The first wrc wheel was a nice entry level product but the more serious rally fan was lacking something decent.

This means I'm glad that fanatec are looking to produce a product that is a more realistic rally product as the first wrc wheel was lacking in authenticity.

I go on to say that the more serious rally fan was lacking something decent. That means people who are fans of rally.

I didn't claim that there was a serious rally sim. That is despite the fact I think WRC10 is good sim, I didn't claim that it was.

Also. Fanatec are partnered with the WRC franchise and launched the original wheel in conjunction with them so I don't think it's a huge leap to think that they would work with the devs to make sure the official peripheral worked in the game.

Looks kind of nice. Maybe fun for stuff like Caterhams, etc. For Rallye there's not much only than Dirt Rally 2 and WRC, and ofcourse RBR. DR2 and WRC do have their issues. DR with lightning, popups and all that. WRC with it's frametime, stutter, FFB and performance. RBR with NGP is the way to go, but game is a tad old you don't wanna spend lots of money on equipment; the FFB is a bit outdated compared to modern racegames.

I like the look of alcantara but I'm glad I've sworn it off. I don't like to drive with gloves and constant maintenance to keep it looking good is a hassle. Turns out I prefer leather and rubber grips anyway so that keeps the options to a minimum for me.

And I guess it's all my fault... I don't think a hand-grease encrusted alcantara wheel looks good. It's gross. Inside a race car or on a sim rig it's the same thing. Use some soap and water and brush for God's sake.
