Have you been thinking of getting a new sim? Well now is the time! The Steam Summer Sale started recently and includes tons of sim racing offers! Of course, more casual games are also included for your off-time entertainment.

Assetto Corsa

Assetto Corsa and all it's DLC are highly reduced. The Ultimate Edition including the base game and every DLC is currently 90% off. That's less than 10$ for a still great sim with immense modding capabilities.
Not to mention that according to Steam statistics, Assetto Corsa is still the most played simulator on the platform.

Assetto Corsa Competizione

Every piece of content for Kunos' newest title is currently on sale. If you want to try out arguably the best esports title for racing that even FIA endorses, look no further. 66% off the base game and 60% off of every DLC except for the newest Challengers Pack. You do get a 10% discount for this recent content pack, however.
Oh and don't forget that ACC is probably the best title you can get if you want to race in private leagues currently.

Automobilista

Both Automobilista titles and all their DLCs are currently on sale.

Automobilista 1 is a great title for modding. Using the isiMotor engine, mods still come out to this day. The base game and season pass are off 75%.

AMS2 features a great selection of content and good AI. Currently, the base game is 60% off while the DLC are 30% off.

iRacing

If you want to try getting into iRacing, now is a good chance as any. As a new user, you currently get up to 31% off your new subscription. DLC are not on sale on steam.

iRacing's clear strength is its officially organised online ranked races. Servers are seldom empty. And for increasingly more tracks iRacing also offers a great singleplayer experience.

rFactor 2

This marvel of modding capabilities is currently reduced by a whole 80%. Due to the nature of rFactor 2's DLC model, the individual content pieces are not reduced. A special summer "Showdown Pack" is for sale however featuring 8 cars and 3 tracks. This pack features a 63% discount in total, however, if you own some of the content in the pack already, the pack will not be cheaper.

Other Selected Offers

DiRT Rally 2.0 GotY Edition-70%
MotoGP™22-40%
Project CARS 2 Deluxe-85%
BeamNG.drive-20%
CarX Drift Racing Online-59%
Circuit Superstars-25%
Ride 4-75%
Forza Horizon 5-20%

To conclude, this summer sale includes something for every racing fan.

BeamNG.drive worth getting?
Not for 20% off. Terribly optimised, eternally in early access, iffy FFB, no much to do besides crash around random maps in fantasy cars. One of the few sims where I really don't see the attraction.

Moving on... for all of those, like me, who have every driving sim already (exception being iRacing) why not get out of your comfort zone and try something different.

That's good advise... so I've been thinking of getting KartKraft but how is it as a dedicated sim? So far the karts on AC and PC2 do the job so that's why I've been reluctant. Tips, anyone?

Don't forget Raceroom, it's always on sale, I picked it up years ago for free, lol and to this day that price has stayed the same.

Stupid rF2 DLC structure, MSG really needs to look at Sector 3 and make some changes to how their store works for already purchased items.

BeamNG.drive worth getting?
BeamNg's proposal is to experience the physics, not only of accidents, the cars may not be real brands, but they guarantee a large number of adjustments and there are many "missions". Physics is very detailed. Racing is not the focus of BeamNG. I recommend to try something different.

Despite being "early access", it has fewer bugs than some simulators out there...

Out of curiosity, what sims do you enjoy and why? Any of the sims on sale? I've noticed you often post strongly worded negative comments about the flaws of various titles or game engines... fair enough, everyone has their opinions and preferences :) but it makes me wonder about what you feel positively about in sim racing. If you'd be willing to share (and please feel no obligation to do so) I'd be interested!

Beam.ng is well worth buying and experiencing, However, it won't suit everyone. Drop any expectations when firing it up and just see what part of it you enjoy.

I've never used it as a crash simulator, Primarily I use it for slow offroad driving, and dabble with a few scenarios from time to time.

Is quite incredible with a motion simulator.

I would suggest writing down the keyboard shortcuts you are going to use the most as they aren't in anyway intuitive, and I never remember what they are.

I have bought almost all rFactor 2 DLC, except a few items which I don’t want to pay full price for. All these ‘missing’ items in my rF2 collection have NEVER been on sale up to now, and I am not talking about DLC that is new (released in last 12 months). The same items seem to be on sale over and over again. Come on Studio 397 / MSG!

AFAIK it's not a S397 issue, but more of a steam issue. DLC delicered in this way as rF2 does it i think cannot be discounted in the classic sense. But this is merely an educated guess. Take it with a grain of salt.

Not directed at yourself and not bashing rF2, but let's be clear.

This is not a Steam issue.

S397 chose to use the item store, a system designed for tradeable items(eg. TF2) over the traditional DLC system. Even though by the time S397 had released ANY paid content other games like Train Simulator had over 400 DLC slots. Currently Train Sim has 673, rF2 has 64 paid single items. More than enough to negate the original reason for using the Item store and inventory system.

This current Summer Pack just sets new users up for either doubling up on content that you cannot trade(even though that is in part what the Steam inventory system is for) or completing packs via single non-discounted item purchases; due to MP and Competition System require owning ALL content on the server.

This part generally gets blamed on ISI, but once again comes down to a S397 choice.
ISI created what worked for them in a dedicated server environment that had no real plan of paid DLC or CS.
S397 chose to not change the system knowing that their CS and paid DLC would benefit from the change.
S397 also choose to package up series in their CS requiring all tracks upfront for the quarter, even when you own the track for the current session. Something most leagues running dedicated servers tried and stopped doing a long time ago due to updates to build, mods etc.

I've said it since the talk of paid content was first announced, without a one car, one circuit entry to servers, especially on their CS; playerbase fragmentation and frustration with the package system will continue and increase with every new release. Over the last 3 years at least, I have largely been proven right.

After some upgrade to the machine, I went and got AMS and BeamNG to complement what I already had.

I thought paying $100 or whatever it was at the beginning of AMS2 was stupid expensive but the effort level and delivery Reiza has shown and the entire year extension beyond what was even promised makes me think I got a steal
I've just got all AMS2 DLC in the steam sale. Really happy with it. I think it's a great game to start with as a beginner
