Steam Summer Sale to Include Tons of Sim Racing Offers

Have you been thinking of getting a new sim? Well now is the time! The Steam Summer Sale started recently and includes tons of sim racing offers! Of course, more casual games are also included for your off-time entertainment.

Assetto Corsa​

Assetto Corsa and all it's DLC are highly reduced. The Ultimate Edition including the base game and every DLC is currently 90% off. That's less than 10$ for a still great sim with immense modding capabilities.
Not to mention that according to Steam statistics, Assetto Corsa is still the most played simulator on the platform.

Assetto Corsa Competizione​

Every piece of content for Kunos' newest title is currently on sale. If you want to try out arguably the best esports title for racing that even FIA endorses, look no further. 66% off the base game and 60% off of every DLC except for the newest Challengers Pack. You do get a 10% discount for this recent content pack, however.
Oh and don't forget that ACC is probably the best title you can get if you want to race in private leagues currently.

Automobilista​

Both Automobilista titles and all their DLCs are currently on sale.

Automobilista 1 is a great title for modding. Using the isiMotor engine, mods still come out to this day. The base game and season pass are off 75%.

AMS2 features a great selection of content and good AI. Currently, the base game is 60% off while the DLC are 30% off.

iRacing​

If you want to try getting into iRacing, now is a good chance as any. As a new user, you currently get up to 31% off your new subscription. DLC are not on sale on steam.

iRacing's clear strength is its officially organised online ranked races. Servers are seldom empty. And for increasingly more tracks iRacing also offers a great singleplayer experience.

rFactor 2​

This marvel of modding capabilities is currently reduced by a whole 80%. Due to the nature of rFactor 2's DLC model, the individual content pieces are not reduced. A special summer "Showdown Pack" is for sale however featuring 8 cars and 3 tracks. This pack features a 63% discount in total, however, if you own some of the content in the pack already, the pack will not be cheaper.

PSA From your resident rF2 Club Racing guy:
Do not buy that Summer Showdown pack for rF2 if you ever plan to buy any other DLC-thing. The way the Store is set up at Steam, means that you will not get any rebate for owned content that is included in pack, you just buy it "again", but you can't gift it away either.
The Summer Showdown pack includes a lot of different stuff, but they all are included in different packs as well. So either you end up buying some of the same stuff twice, or you need to buy single content in the future.

Remember to race online, you need to own all content that's on the server. So e.g in the S397 Endurance Club Races here at RD, you need to have the DPi, LMP2 and GTE's. The Summer Showdown Pack includes a DPi, one LMP2 and one GTE... So either you buy the rest of the cars separate, or you pay for a pack that includes the DPi, LMP2 and GTE you already own...

It's a bad deal. Sorry. Go for the main game, use mods, or go for proper DLC Packs.

Ole is mostly correct. You don't need everything, but you do need to match the content on any particular server if you plan on racing online. If the host only has one car loaded for a one make series, then that is all you would need. (an example would be a Ferrari Challenge series where everyone drives a Ferrari GT3 or Indycar which is limited to just one car) However 'most' servers tend to buy as much content as is available. So if you are interested in Multi-class endurance racing you WILL need all the GT3, GTE & prototypes. Packages that contain many of these are a better deal than the sampler offered for the summer sale.

The summer pack is a nice group of cars & mostly outdated tracks that will allow new users to get a wide range of experiences. But if you plan on progressing to full-on racing. You will end up having to buy other packs with some duplicate cars or trracks that cannot be refunded or exchanged(as Ole stated).

I have every games, every DLC, so every steam sales are useless for me, I just wait for new DLCs, like the big Kunos one, Instant buy.

Must admit I got RF2 to give it another go as the price was really good. Last time I played it I got a refund as the UI sucked and didn't like the driving experience at all. Since then I've read some positive things so thought I'd give it a go - WOW!

I decided to get the Le Mans track to see what the quality was like. A few hours later and I've purchased the Endurance 1 pack and having a blast!

The dry to wet transition is the best I've experienced, graphics are a tad dated yes but they look fine to me on high and the sunset I tried earlier was fantastic.

The feeling of the cars on the edge is really good, probably better than ACC actually IMO. In ACC I find it's more down to the experience you have in the car to know when it's going to let go, on RF2 I have jumped in to a few different cars and could push early on and feel what's going on.

Don't get me wrong, I'm still an ACC guy but for a blast in GTE and LMP cars RF2 is brilliant.

Even haters can give Project CARS 2 a chance at this price. I was in that group and I convinced myself to pull the trigger last time there was a Steam sale, and with one of the latest custom FFB files, it is a surprisingly good experience. A faux WEC type mixed class race at one of your favourite tracks in changing weather conditions is quite fun!

Well done Studio 397. You've managed to one up Sector 3 when it comes to trying to identify deals and buy individual pieces that are missing from my inventory. They really haven't got a clue on how to set things up when sale time comes around.

Why not simply add a percentage discount to previously existing items like the others do instead of smashing together these non sensical packs that further fragment the content.

For the last 4 or 5 times a sale has came around, I take a minute to see if the missing cars or tracks I want are discounted, realise they yet again aren't going to be and buy nothing.

I believe the rF2 DLCs being delivered by the Steam Workshop has many limitations. Most DLC for other sims are not handled by the Workshop.

Why is rF2 the only game on Steam that I know of that uses this DLC distribution method? Rather than the DLC instore option like everything else, that actually will discount you on parts of a pack you already own, and also much much easier to see quickly which bits I have actually bought. :p

Annoying.

maybe because it was conceived without Steam in mind. I think I remember when it first came out you could not buy any new stuff it was always included in a free download to update the game on their site and it was only later integrated into Steam, I may be wrong, though.

No you're right, and I remember there was quite a furore when they announced becoming Steam only because of the two levels it sold at before that.

That fits sooo well how Motorsport Games handled things lol. They just try everything to f you over.

The quotes above are 2 things of the list of reasons why i stopped caring about this sim and supporting it years ago.

RR is where owned content always gets taken into account. And also in RR and iR i can join servers with just 1 car and the track thats running on it. Thats how you do it right.

Also why should anyone support Motorsport Games after all what they have done and close to beeing bancrupt now ? Thats just trying hard to ride a dead horse lol :D I better support other sims with my money :p

The need for having the same content as the server long pre-dates MSG & even S397. It was an anti-cheat method put in place by ISI before DLC was even a dream, way before S397 acquired rF2.

The WORKSHOP method was suggested by Steam to S397 due to the large amounts of mods that were expected. It has been discussed several times by S397 & Steam and for whatever reason, they have left this distribution path in place.

At this point, all we can say is MSG has indeed limited the seasonal sales, while at the same time giving S397 millions to improve the product. The first publicly viewable result of that cash was seen with the May 2022 Q2 release and quite probably the largest QoL change list ever released by S397. Q3 & Q4 will probably determine the continued role of rF2 within MSG. if they keep squashing bugs and adding quality content at the scope of Q2, then rF2 may finally become a fully polished product. If Q3 & Q4 become merely content releases , the entire MSG racing family will go the way of Nascar Ignition 21.

Fully polished product lulz :D Not working track temps and tons of other unfinished features, bugs since 2012... I will never put any single € more into that mess of a sim. They do not even have all needed functions ingame you still have to fiddle with json files and also no documentation for the sim so you have to use Google for any information/explanation of in game stuff or to fix mirrors in cars that got released often with messed up mirrors. Waste of money imo. I was done with rF2 when ISI got rid of it.
