Automobilista 2 | Complementary Updates Released

Automobilista 2 July Complementary Updates 01.jpg
Reiza Studios has updated Automobilista 2 to version 1.3.8.3 this week, and the latest patch brings significant updates to many existing cars.

A number of smaller updates to Automobilista 2 have been released since their major monthly update 10 days ago which brought the title to version 1.3.8.x. The current phase of development is focused primarily on setting a firm foundation of physics for what we expect to be a busy second half of 2022 on the content front.

Version 1.3.8.3 was released to Steam over the weekend, and this update gives players more than expected from a complementary patch.

Among the changes are physics overhauls to the Lancer Cup, TSI Cup, Opala 79, Copa Fusca and Copa Uno cars. The Opala 79 is a car commonly brought up in the "best sim cars you've never tried" discussion, and these updates should further enhance its standing in that category.

Also in the changelog, Reiza describes that further tire revisions were applied to many of the open wheel offerings in AMS2. These cars have been gaining popularity throughout the year, and are perhaps the best showcase of the recent physics updates in the title.

Players enjoying the new Argentinian tracks that were added this month as a free update also got some good news, as these three new circuits have been given real weather data.

Below is the changelog for version 1.3.8.3. Be sure to let us know your thoughts on this update, or anything else Automobilista 2 related in the comments below.

I am curious to see what physics changes will be in 1.4 where Reiza have said basically that would be likely the last of significant changes.
AMS2 is a great game, but I don't like it as much as I want to. There continue to be elements of the driving experience that are immersion breaking for me because they just feel off or unrealistic and I get the sense Reiza don't feel that is the case.
I wish MP was better, but I'd still play the game. I wish AI was better but I'd still play the game. When I continue to have moments while I am driving that I think "Nope", then I just want to shut the game off. For the most part many of the low powered cars feel amazing I will say that.

For me the Stockcar 2022 were allready great but they somehow feel even better now. Very much like you would expect a racecar to react. Forme they only “off” issue is the pull You get when driving with one wheel on end of curbs or grass. That a bit much and sometimes difficult to overcome with a DD wheel.

A good chunk of it comes from the fact that the wheel on the tarmac has far more grip and less rolling resistance and pushes far harder than the one on the grass. This is what "pulls" you out of the track. If you lift even so slightly the effect decreases drastically. If you keep it floored it's 10x harder to bring the car back on the track with all wheels.

Reiza really need to figure out why in the past few months there were fewer and fewer players playing AMS2 while the game is claimed to be getting better and better...

Because the game, while it is getting better, has nothing promoting longevity. AI is mostly not there, multiplayer is not there, so the only thing you can grind without road gaps is TimeTrial and most people only do that so much.

Whenever some shiny new thing arrives, player numbers go up, but people can only be occupied so long with hotlapping, having multiplayer bugs and racing flawed AI.

If they get the AI to a better level or make multiplayer more rewarding, player count will start stabilizing instead of spiking and then continually decreasing.

I'm pretty sure that, if 1.4 works as intended, they will be able to stabilize a 350+ player average at the very least.
