Sochi Autodrom is a race track for automobile competitions in the settlement of Sirius, Krasnodar Region of Russia. It is located in the Imereti lowland on the territory of the Sochi Olympic Park.
The idea of the track around the Olympic Park of the 2014 Winter Olympics is similar to the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit and the Homebush Street Circuit around the Olympic Park in Sydney. It operates year-round. The Sochi Autodrom track was designed by German architect, developer of Formula 1 race tracks Hermann Tilke.
On September 13-14, 2014, the Sochi Autodrom hosted the first competition in its history. It was a stage of the Russian series of circuit races, one of the tasks of which was to test the track and all the services of the circuit on the eve of the first Grand Prix of the Formula 1 World Championship in the history of Russia. On October 10-12, 2014, the first Formula 1 Grand Prix of Russia was held on the track. At the annual General Assembly of the International Automobile Federation, the 2014 Russian Grand Prix was recognized as the best in the Formula 1 Championship.
