Opel Commodore for GT Legends
------------------------------
The Opel Commodore was introduced in spring 1967 as a coupe and as well as 2 - and 4-door sedan. The Commodore based on the body of the Opel Rekord C, but was considerably different by another grille, an aluminum bezel between the tail lights, additional chrome trim, wood interior applications and other Hub caps and trim rings to distinguish from it´s "Brother" with four-cylinders.
A Rekord as a group C-5 race car, which was given the name "Black Widow" by the press, had become a legend with his driver Erich Bitter. Opel Rekord C Race cars were exceptional, the Commodore mostly was used as a basis.
The only as a two-door sedan available version was racing with a close-ratio sports gearbox, a more direct steering ratio, limited slip differential, front bucket seats, a laminated windshield, and of course a matt black bonnet for racing requirements. To save weight, rear and side windows on this car were made of plastic, unnecessary applications and parts, interior trim and the heater also fell victim to the weight optimization.
---------------------------------------
Till now this car wasn't part of the racing cars in GT Legends. Time to try modding this car on myself. The vehicles skins mostly are designed after the contemporary models. However, with the blue Commodore of Jürg Bächi also a recent classic takes part, which is competetive to more modern classic racing cars. We have painted one Commodore as a tribute to the legendary black widow as well.
-----Installation-------
------------------------
To install unzip the file Opel_Commodore.rar(zip) into the GT Legends Gamedata directory and confirm the request to "overwrite existing files" with yes. No original data will be lost and no other files will be overwritten. The option "Full Path" should be "activated) in WinRar (" Advanced").
The files may not be changed, modified or converted without the express consent of all contributors directly involved in this project, or used in any other way than originally intended.
We would like to see the starting field being enlarged with some good skins. A template is part of this download package...
The use of sounds is limited to the GTL platform.
The direct participants were:
-----------------------------
DonPanoz: Idea, 3d model, templates, bik-file and more,
Hasi: cockpit, additional 3d modelling, wheels, car- and cas-files and much more,
Grojosan: physics
Citytea: sounds, HUD and skin of the Jürg Bächi-Commodore #57
Special thanks to:
------------------
Cooky, who helped us with words and action. He has made the functioning shadow model and much more, Oliver Steinmetz who allowed to take photos and sound recording of his existing real Commodore, Torsten Sprenger for many information on his website http://www.graf-vlad.de/ and additional information and detail-photos, the drivers of the GTL4U - League and the Altbierbude, which tested one of the betas. They discovered any mistakes.
To all who have supported this thread with patience and dedication, comments and information, the GTL4U team for this great platform to enjoy the fans of Simracing.
And of course the Adam Opel AG for the Commodore A series and of course the tuners Steinmetz, Conrero, Irmscher and others causing a stir with that cars on several race tracks.
Now have fun with the car
