RD Rally Championship Season 8 - General Discussion

someone should ask cody to put in a feature where the tournie participants are allowed one trial of each stage in a given time before the rally proper, that would ultimately level the playing field.
Agreed, but we'd then be sooo reliant on decent pace notes; maybe they'd also need to add a "modify pace note" feature.

Yes, it is only in the rally itself you get to go at full pace. Normally the drivers are allowed 2 runs through in the reccee, in Norway the speed limit is 60 km/h during that period of time. That one is difficult to recreate in-game, maybe it should be set up as a Mini-only-event as a reccee? :p

Bugger, a little time constrained due to new baby arriving. Had knocked off the first two stages earlier in the week, had "secured" an hour to have a crack at the rest in one sitting and the next stage (SS3) "Gordolon" starts with the Ocullus in projector mode. Great, no depth perception, no head tracking, like playing Dirt at the movies. I did it anyway hoping it would reset on the next stage, nope... alt-f4 (there's no other way to quit or reset the view mode), start up Dirt again, first two stage times deleted... Oh well, definitely not enough time now to complete the rally... First time I've retired from a rally due to software failure! That's a real fault with Dirt & Oculus, no reliable reset of the screen even though it rarely happens.

3h to go, back to back stages there is still time, but difficult situation. Sorry

I did it! Might not be married any more but I still got it done (with 20 minutes to spare). Had an Austin Powers spin that cost me 20+ seconds and another spin that cost me 10. Without those I would've been super stoked with the result considering I don't really drive Monte Carlo and the car is new to me (I'm from NZ, I mostly drive gravel)... Crikey, that was a workout.

Another interesseting point in this 1. event was, how are working these low skilled engineers on my car?
I've seen following:

1. Service point:
Service Station 1.jpg

4. Service point:
Service Station 4.jpg

I'm sure that these poor repair abilities will be more important in the following events.

Yeah, they suck. I think they also suck even worse on modern cars (e.g. 2010s) than they do on say the 1960s class, which is a bit scary because I think @Ole Marius Myrvold said we should expect longer service intervals on future rallies. On the MC test rally, I barely got my Fiesta home in one piece, but I managed slightly better on the real thing (fewer crashes I guess).
(Btw, I love "auspuff" - that's such an awesome word for exhaust! :D)

The are equal for everyone, which is why we chose to not use career engineers :)
And yes, the Monte Rally is the rally IRL with the highest amount of services.

Ole is a bit of a masochist, so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest! :roflmao:

Don't blame me, blame the real life guys!

Yup, that bit's cool with me. The scary bit is my (possibly wrong?) feeling that the WRC-type cars need much longer to service than the ancient cars. You'll be OK in your Escort, but what about us Fiesta drivers? :p
I guess I should do some testing with my beloved Alpine and see if I'm wrong...
