Alot of people been saying this today. And £17 mill people may see it as overpriced but hes english and all english players are overpriced. Chlsea bought Bosingwa for £16m and wel johnson had a much better season. I think its a good buy. I was sick of Rafa looking at targets and missing out after being fussy with money. A very very good buy for Liverpool.

Also looks like the Lavezzi deal is off after Rafa claimed hes made no bid.

Decided to make its own thread.

Well what a summer of transfers already, the biggest spenders, obviously Real Madrid are taking all the headlines but here is what else is happening in the world of football:

Gattuso - AC Milan -> Chelsea - In discussion

Gennaro Gattuso's agent insists his client is happy at AC Milan and has had no contact from Chelsea.
The World Cup-winning midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge following the Blues' appointment of former Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti.

In my opinion Gattuso is useless and to old, he should retire before anyone signs him, but yet again, Chelseas have to waste their money!!

Bosingwa Chelsea -> Bayern Munich - In discussion

Bayern Munich have admitted to making an approach for Chelsea full-back Jose Bosingwa.
The German giants have indentified the rampaging Portuguese defender as a top priority in their search for fresh faces this summer.
An agreement is yet to be struck with his current employers, but Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is hoping an accord can be reached.

Karim Benzema Lyon -> ???? - Speculation

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas admits he could be powerless to prevent Karim Benzema leaving this summer.
The France international is among Europe's hottest properties at the moment, with a host of clubs keen to lure him away from Stade Gerland.
The likes of Inter Milan and Real Madrid are reported to have expressed an interest in the talented 21-year-old, while Manchester United could be persuaded to re-invest some of the money they have generated from the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo on the highly-rated frontman.

I'm a little dissapointed right now as South Africa just lost to Pakistan in the T20 20 world Cup. So my sport weekend already not off to a good start.

Red Agree Johnson Deal

Liverpool have confirmed they have agreed a deal with Portsmouth to sign Glen Johnson.
The Reds have beaten Chelsea to the signature of the England international after both clubs agreed fees with Portsmouth earlier this month.
Portsmouth were resigned to losing Johnson with the player keen on joining a larger club to enhance his bid of keeping his place in the England squad for next summer's World Cup finals.
Johnson was given permission to speak to both clubs about a move last week and the full-back has decided to make the switch to Anfield rather than return to Stamford Bridge for a second spell.
A club statement read: "Liverpool FC confirmed this evening that they had reached an agreement with Portsmouth Football Club and with Glen Johnson for the transfer of the player to Anfield."
The deal is a boost for Reds boss Rafa Benitez as he has won the race for Johnson's signature ahead of title rivals Chelsea.
Johnson will be Liverpool's first major signing of the summer, but his arrival is sure to cast doubts over Alvaro Arbeloa's long-term future on Merseyside.

Very happy with this signing and beating Chelsea to a signing feels even better. Rafa has got a fullback right for once :good:
