F1 2012 F1 2012 The Game: Patch #4 Available

F1 2012 The Game (Codemasters)
A mere 2 weeks after it's release F1 2012 The Game has received more patches than the F1 2010 & F1 2011 games combined throughout their lifespan. This patch comes less than 2 days after patch #3, both of them fixing lots of issues and todays' patch even changing the constant understeer that's been deemed to be a bug by most of the community and CodeMasters themselves.

Patch #3 (notes):
  • Fixed an issue with frame rates that was introduced in patch #2
  • Fixed an issue where using a flashback could result in an engine blowout effect. This would also result in the player doing an unnecessary pit stop if they were trying to serve a drive through penalty.
  • Fixed the achievement “The Equipment May Be The Same” to unlock in Career as per the description
  • Reduced the amount of starting fuel that the user is given for races Austin as it was previously too high
  • Fixed some issues in Co-op Qualifying when only one user progresses to the next session
  • Fixed a number of camera and graphical issues
  • Fixed several issues which would display the incorrect number of players in a lobby or a race

Patch #4 (notes):
  • Understeer: Adjusted track information to provide a more uniform level of grip across the entire surface
  • Fixed an issue where some users (especially those on laptops) were unable to change their resolution.
  • Fixed a crash in Co-op when trying to resume a session at the start of a Qualifying session that neither player would take part in.
  • Fixed issues with the weather system in Instant Replays / Race Replays which could instantly change the track wetness level.
  • Removed engine damage from the list of damaged parts that can force a pit stop to take priority over a drive through penalty.
  • Changed the Prime tyre compound to Hard for Suzuka to match the race this weekend. This change will not affect Time Attack which will continue to use the Medium compound tyre.
  • Added a white cross to the DRS OSD to indicate to that it is unavailable because of a fault.
  • Fixed a number of minor graphical issues.
  • Fixed a couple of minor issues with timers not resetting correctly.
  • Added a Skip Session option so players can leave any session without having to complete it.
  • Tweaked force feedback for all devices.
  • Improved the lighting on Singapore.

The downside of all the fixes is that CodeMasters introduced a new bug in patch #4 - one that's going to be pretty annoying for lots of people.
  • Saves not synchronising with the Steam cloud. If you are experiencing issues with saves uploaded to Steam’s cloud, we recommend using saved games stored on your local drive/PC.

Due to the nature of console patches their release will follow shortly after the PC version since they require additional submission and authorisation from Microsoft and Sony in advance.

Look, I have internet now. But I am speaking on behalf of those many that do not. If you remember last year, I pointed out to Steve Hood that it's ridiculous that they didn't release standalone patches for the many people who cannot afford it because of cost constraints.

In the end they listened and we got the standalones. But I am not selfish enough to believe that just because I have internet now, that the thousands of people who still cannot afford it, are happy now. That'd be ignorant on my part.

It's a Steamworks title this year, so they can hardly provide standalone patches. Whilst I understand the issue, I do, it's still not the developers fault if people expect it to work smoothly if they don't meet the minimum requirements.

Yeah also very true. But I am sure the game is patchable by stand-alone surely. It sounds more like an excuse than a real limitation.

It's fine to disagree :)

Don't you guys think that maybe the reason the game not being fully complete on release was actually a smart move from codemasters on behalf of pirate's?

If they want a fully patched game they pretty much have to buy it now unless they just get stuck with f1 2012 unpatched?

I mean its strange for codemasters to release so many patches a few weeks after launch?

Patch 5 is also UP.:

This update addresses the following issues:

Reduced the likelihood of the player getting a penalty when involved in a collision with an AI car.
Further reduced the chance of rain for all tracks and greatly reduced it for Sakhir (Bahrain).
Fixed Catalunya so that it’s no longer possible to cut corners to gain an advantage. The PC Catalunya Time Trial Leaderboard will be reset after the patch goes live, this will either be done Friday evening or Monday morning (UK time).
Fixed an issue where the engine could be damaged or destroyed when using a flashback.
Reverted the changes to the force feedback from patch 4. While this improved some wheels, it was to the detriment of others.
Added an option to delete profiles.

Finally I can play BahRAIN on dry, never had the chance on my career... =)

wow Codemasters is actually patching now...and on the fly, yes there is always something wrong after each patch, but hey, I don't see any other companies patching as fast, and im glad they fixed the understeer, it was about time.
they're fast in making patches because they are already done them before the official game release. They're doing this to reduce piracy. Clever and easy eh?
