Then that must be the issue. Maybe Steam is wiping the manually placed mod or something? I don't know how Steam works in this instance, but I've been importing my txts right into the assets and I've had no issues like that, so going forward it's advisable you do too.

The fact you say that your stat changes are being reverted is interesting though, because before they would be baked into the save and would not reflect any changes until you started a new game. I'm wondering if they have made a change that means it's no longer baked in. Their statement that continuing 1.23 saves was fine and the only thing you wouldn't see is the GT series also seems to point to this.

I hadn't thought about their PSA about how old saves will work in all new patches, that's a fantastic point, and probably has something to do with it. I'll definitely just import all my .txts from now on, just for safety's sake. But also, I made changes to the Chairman.txt, and for engineers and mechanics, and nothing changed for them in my tests. Weird it only seems to be messing with the Personality Traits that I've noticed, but also, I only use like 6 modded .txts. Wish there was a little more elaboration on the devs' behalf.

For those playing with the tyre life/performance tweaks - how have you been finding it? I'm thinking about going through and balancing up medium and short races too now. Let me know if there is anything odd/not fun you found (no, 8-10 lap tyre life doesnt count, it's what you get for having a bad car and drivers, kinda part of the objective).

Sorry for posting on here like crazy, but I would love to try out your tweaks on medium length! I'm too impatient for long races, and the tweaks definitely sound like they'll make the game more interesting.

I have rectified some interviews and a single dilemma giving the wrong traits as a result. It's up in the air as to whether this will now work with an ongoing save, so let me know either way (or I'll find out as I play).

dilemmas .txt and interviews.txt will work with existing saves (at least they did in 1.2).

Given the amount of new dilemmas, it's probably quite easy to create whole new ones now, simply by using the old ones as examples

Hi guys, I saw complains (I guess I saw it at Steam or reddit) about that the actual tyres uses in races and active tyre rules didn't match. I mean wide tyre rules but groove tyres in race (in new games). Did you come across to something like that?

It seems to be an issue if you use a per-1.3 save (why you'd do that is beyond me). I've been playing in ERS on a new save and everything is as it should be (actually, I just reread your post, I'll have a check. I know they moved some numbers about).

I have also just updated the Tyre Tweaks mod with medium race distance changes. As I don't play medium, it's up to you guys to let me know if anything isn't right (I only did medium because I know some do play it). Short won't be changed at all as the race distance increase should be enough, and reducing tyre life there would make the softest option almost useless.

What is the concensus on making GT racing more geared towards endurance racing? As it stands, all race distances are identical to SS vanilla. There is nothing really that sets GT apart from SS besides ballast (assuming that is even in).

GT has its own designdata, so I could set up some more endurance-like distances quite easily.

Depending on how you want tyres to behave, you can set 'short' 'medium' and 'long' to be sprint, medium and endurance for the GT series. That'll create some havoc ;)

That's precisely what I had in mind for long preference games ;) Vote in short races for a sprint series, long races for endurance.

I'm currently looking up the distances for sprint and endurance based on the defunct GT Championship, where sprint races were 2 hours, and endurance races were 500km (300 miles) with a time limit of 3 hours.

i think it would work well, as a best of all worlds thing.

That would mean that tyres would all have to be quite long lasting (which I guess makes more sense on more of a road car) - which basically means potstops is irrelevant in sprint races, unless there is refuelomg - which I guess isn't a million miles away from the 'mandatory stop' I remember there being.

Exactly. I might need to rebalance the fast/med/slow times of each tyre to make more than just softs the option in a 1-stop situation though, but yes, durable tyres would be on the menu.

The only thing I would suggest is... having different paces at different parts of the life... e.g., softest being quick to begin with but pans off,,. Mediums being slow to begin with but then becomes quicker then sorts for a long time. And hards which maybe never changes?

They'd all be just as fast as each other really, but just peak best at different times - for different strategies...

I really don't think GT has multiple tyres with any real significance in changes.

From what little GT racing I've done in Assetto Corsa (1000 miles in Nismo GT-R GT3, 1500 miles in BMW M3 GT2), there doesn't seem to be *too much* time between tyres. Obviously, I'll look through the WEC/endurance series pit strategies and see what they do and use them as reference.

For endurance, you'd could increase length or tyres or amount of allotted sets

Well, I've decided on distances of 130, 240 and 350 miles for short/medium/long races in the rules, so I just need to get tyre life balanced for it all as there is about 2.5x as many laps between the upper and lower rules.

Quick question, did you change the race length for Medium settings your ssdesigndata.txt? Or is it just the tyre life? I'm about to play around with it, just wanted to know

Yep.

Increased all average race distances by ~15% (in miles)
- Short - from 50 up to 58
- Medium - from 80 up to 98
- Long - from 130 up to 150

Increased difference in miles for short/medium/long races in rules
- Short - from +-7 up to +-11
- Medium - from +-10 up to +-22
- Long - from +-15 to +-33

Perfect. I wasn't sure if those notes were for the actual race distance in the rules or for settings. Cheers.
