Assetto Corsa has received a substantial updated today, bringing the simulation to version 1.9 and adding the new Porsche Panamera G2 Turbo as a free car, alongside the Porsche Volume One DLC package, the first of three such DLC's due to be added to the game before the end of the year.

Today's update is more than just simply adding the first Porsche DLC however, as can be seen by the sizable changelog listed below. Version 1.9 contains considerable updates to the audio environment in Assetto Corsa, with several lines of the changelog dedicated to improvements and optimizations regarding the usage of FMOD sounds within the sim. Luca Sodano, Kunos Sound Designer and one of the men responsible for the audio improvements in the new update, released this teaser video a few days ago to give players an idea of what is in store for them in the new update, and the improvements are considerable. Due to the sound update potentially breaking some third party mods, Kunos released the FMOD development kit last week, so keep an eye out in our downloads section for updates to current mods when they become available.

Other items contained within the change log that may prove interesting to online drivers is the Anti-Wrecker protection line, confirmed by Kunos to mean "it's a simple (optional, settable by the server) system that punishes users with a high ratio of collision/km during a race with a sequence of penalties up to server ban. It's designed to fight against obvious wreckers in public servers." It is very pleasing to see Kunos have acknowledged the issue around deliberate wreckers in public server environments, and it will be interesting to see how this first pass at automated policing of the issue fairs in a real server environment.

Other notable items from today's update include the update to GT3 cars, as now all vehicles in that classification benefit from the latest version 10 tyre technology and the PC debut of the official "Sparco" license in game, shown by the use of Sparco gloves when wheel and hands are enabled in game.

I was in travel yesterday, so I will have the 'unboxing' pleasure tonight.

Anyone can recommend in what order to taste these cars to have best cummulation of enjoyment :)

Which one is apperitife, which is a starter meal and first dish, main meal and which one a dessert?

Is any of them after dinner vodka shots that will get me hangover for the day after? ;-)

I got it last night. I was late because I was doing an Xfinity race at Charlotte on AMS, (loads of fun BTW. I do not like watching NASCAR but "driving" it is different...).

I could have spent all night going through the Porsche lineup. IMO there is no aperitif, starter meal or whatever, just a huge serving of Porsche on one big plate.

I started with the 917 "for a few minutes" and 17 laps on the modern Silverstone ( A good test track) later I realized that I needed to get to another car. 935 was next and I had to force myself to keep it to 10 laps.

I could have spent all night with just that car.

The RSR Turbo was next. Great drive, another car I could have spent all night with. I should have done a few laps at the Ring.

Look, I have PCars, Raceroom, AC, and AMS. All have their strengths and weaknesses and I am happy to race in any of them and be overall satisfied. If I am a shill it is that I am a shill for driving simulators, not one in particular.

That being said this DLC is the best that has come out in any sim I have. Of course that is merely one opinion of one person. Others may think differently, and I agree that there are flaws. They are overcome by the pure feeling of joy when hitting 200 mph on Kemmel in the 917 then having to stand on the brakes nearly half-way down Kemmel (think about that for a moment) just to be able to enter Les Combes in a fashion that does not "kill" you and any bystander.

Just open that b@#%h up, forget about the real world and have a sim smorgasbord.

I could be wrong...

As with any massive update in AC, it's needed to reconfigure the graphics and sounds settings, not only ingame but also of your pc. The Porsche pack is a bless for simracing in AC, and eventually with some necessary patches the update quality will prove its worth . My sounds are actually worse now but I just found out Windows 10 erased Beats Audio Program from my drive. So before any complaints about this (fmod) update, check all of your system settings and reset them if needed.
I need to:
-update my graphics settings as they are outdated from several versions ago
-reinstall a sound manager program
-look for driver updates
-configure pc settings and AC settings to optimize the result
....looks like a day of exciting and enjoying configuration edits :whistling::)

That's odd, I've never had to do any of that after an AC update. Same with 1.9, I didn't have to alter anything and it all worked great. Weird how different people can have such different results.

my god the game sounds loud now!
nice big update though
this really shows how kunos is still improving the game and not solely releases dlc's

maybe i'll give the gt4 a go when participating in a league or so
but it's another paddle shifter :(

the old porsches look cool, more from a nostalgic point of view
than a 'I wanna drive this beast' point of view

those new roadporsches really make me yawn
not much interesting left after all this endless recycling the vwautomobilgruppe is so fond of
don't care how much it has evolved under the hood
even this brand fell victim to 'das Deutsche Einheidswürstsyndrom' imo

but can't deny being mightily impressed KS überhaupt obtained the license

AC updated version 1.9.1. Do you have a changelog ?

Here you go.

1.9.1
- Fixed crash with Porsche 918 when tyres are not on the tarmac in 32 bit mode
- Fixed crash with Tyre Tester App
- Fixed inactive ers controller on Porsche 918
- Fixed clicking gear shift on the Porsche 918
- Tweaked backfire volume on the Porsche 917/30
- Slightly tweaked volume curve (speed related) for the new brake squeal sound
- New Session info can be customized in [SteamLibrary]\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg\session_info.ini
- Personal driver skin can be customized adding "driverskin.ini" into Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg folder. The script must be similar to the one in "skin.ini" (skins folder of any official car) and can contain more driver models.
- Fixed Ferrari 488 GT3 setup ride height visualization. (physics on front splitter was fine)

They are a bit slower but the tire model is updated so you prolly have to adapt to the change and do a bunch of laps before getting comfy. Aris also said right now real life GT3 cars have even grippier tires but since its late 2016 changes (in real life) they havent gotten there yet in AC since its... well, very current change.

I was driving mine with my sequential shifter last night?

Anyone else experiencing the GT3 cars a bit slower now with Tyre version 10, especially the 488 GT3? And what happened to Nordschleife Tourist layout?
The Porsches are great btw!

Yes, Aris said they are all a bit slower on V10s for whatever reason, but it's across the board so it shouldn't be an issue.

What do you mean about the Tourist layout? I drove around it last night, seemed fine.

But it's a paddleshifter right? I know your approach is possible but i want to drive it as it was meant to be. i take simracing maybe a bit too serious...:D
