And math for Steered Angle
I reverse the G Force Lat to get the wheel friction circle correct
and Steering Angle to get - for right hand turns (but this is optional)

And you will have to enter an wheelbase in details

(2850mm seems to be an common used value for road cars)

Then oversteer should work

People like you make me love this community. Thank you... I'll try it after work.

So the mapping worked perfectly. The only problem I'm having now is with oversteer. I put the maths in, then tried to assign an alias to oversteer. Am I missing something?

Hey guys, thanks for the nice discussion about oversteer.

I didn’t find the time yet to tinker with a specific oversteer math but as a tip to others:

I use quite a lot the (already included with te ACTI base project) YAW ANGLE RATE graph in the chassis sheet (provides a good idea on how fast oversteer is happening.

Also always one of the very first plots I am usually looking at is the Tire slip angle B plot you find in the tire sheet - this always gives a fantastically precise idea of what the car is doing at both each exact moment around the track (just wipe your mouse along the track map at crititcal corners and watch the plot of all 4 tires) and in general by looking at the shape of the point cloud plots from front to rear tires (wider shape at the front than the rear = understeering, narrower shape at the front than the rear = oversteering).

I always had this idea that maybe a few interested guys could meet up after an RD club race on the practice server and team speak channel and just talk Motec.
I have done this a few times and gave a few guys “crash courses” how to set up, trouble shoot and especially how to interprete telemetry. It was always good fun and people always came out of those sessions with a good idea of what Motec telemetry can do for their setup and racing.

There could also be an “advanced workshop” were all the cracks could share and talk math formulas and novel ideas to solve issues and add channels for data that is either not provided by the AC engine directly or cannot easily be provideed with the ACTI plugin but can be built with math tools and workarounds.

Dirk, that is an great idea. I mainly do league races (normally 2 each week) so little time for other more casual ones (as here on RD) but if this was about to happen i'll go premium and even install teamspeak :)

Jens, there is nothing really organized re. Motec Q&A - it usually happens when chatting after the club races or when a few guys come together on a practice server for the club races.

It's too bad you don't have spare time left as I am sure the guys and myself would be glad to have you.
The premium account and the club races are very, very well worth it.
You meet some great guys in the events and racing there is always a great experience - the fields are always wide spread from regular, fast league contenders down to the normal weekend racer guys ;-)

In the Motec i2 software open "tools" and open the "lap editor".
Generate a lap either by GPS data or by the other option (can't remember without looking at the open app).

Do use the other option (GPS will not work well and often mangles the sector designation when using the Motec i2 software with ACTI telemetry data).

This will generate a proper track map.

Now i find in manual how to, tks

3.1 Viewing Live Telemetry Data (ACTI Live Telem Viewer)  Create an ACTI Telemetry Viewer workspace and save it under the "workspaces" folder (i.e. "C:\Users\<user_name>\Documents\acti\workspaces") (or use the default). Select the desired workspace by going to Edit->Settings... in acti and saving its path under "Workspace Path" (absolute path is required).  (Optional) If the chosen workspace has a track map control in it, you have to specify a reference lap for the Telem Viewer to use. To do this, select a representative lap around the track in question in Motec's i2 and go to File->Export Data.... Select "Current Range" under "Data Extent", "CSV File" as the "Output File Format" and "5 Hz" as the "Output Sample Rate". Click "Export" and save the file in the acti "reference_laps" folder (i.e. "C:\Users\<user_name>\Documents\acti\ reference_laps "). Then select the desired reference lap by going to Edit->Settings... in acti and saving its path under "Reference Lap Path" (absolute path is required).  Open the Live Telem Viewer by going to Live Telemetry->Open Live Telem Viewer in acti.

Maybe useful for oversteer math.

I'm unable to get this app to work. I get a "connection rejected" error message. I followed the PDF instructions, using localhost. Any thoughts where I went wrong?

(1) Installed acti folder. (2) Installed acti python app. (3) Started in-game session. (4) Entered full path and "localhost." (5) Restarted in-game session. Nothing happens. I click on Connect in the in-game app, and I get a connection error message.

You have started the "acti.exe" before you start AC?
Try to disable windows and any 3rd part (anti-virus) firewalls.

You should not need to change any port setting from default if running on the same machine

I also tend to use the AI to generate the "primary" lap, especially when I'm learning a new car or track. You can ask the AI to drive your car (with whatever setup you'd like) using the CTRL-C hotkey (in a hotlapping session is best).

Cheers,

Dave\Esotic
Is this the only way to see ai telemetry? I would like to compare my lap time versus ai's lap time from practice/qualifying/race.
