2012 UEFA European Championship

Everyone in the german press is talking about how great our players are and how good they play for 6! years now
2006 3rd, 2008 2nd, 2010 3rd, 2012 3rd
Its probably time to start rating their performances on results and not on what they could do

For those who were waiting for Ronaldo crying::roflmao:

2012 3rd? How is that?

Spain and Germany was best team in this tournament, but Italy in football is always dangerous for all

The penalty shoot-out yesterday and today's Balotelli are skewing people's perspectives - the usual elitism surfacing.

Germany played well ALL games except against Portugal (Mario de saviour hit it when everybody saw the german squad was total bonkers against the Portuguese) and Italy (Mario the killer shook them top to bottom and that was it).

Spain played badly against Italy and was intermittent, nervous, incapable of anything brilliant against the Portuguese squad. The BBC said it better:

"What nobody had accounted for, however, was Spain playing out of tune for long periods - Portugal were the conductors as inspiration gave way to perspiration in Donetsk.[...]
-
Portugal [...] prevented Spain settling into their familiar rhythm. At every turn, Xavi and Iniesta found a willing opponent, pressing Spain high up the field and forcing mistake after frustrating mistake.
-
Spain were out of their comfort zone but their individual brilliance made them a danger on the rare occasions they did attack."

Italy's gameplay was lacklustre in all matches but two: against England and Germany.

Portugal, on the other hand, had a not-so-good 1st half against the germans and ended up pressing them against the ropes for the last 20 minutes of the match. From then on, their gameplay and team spirit kept improving. Against the European and World champions they ruined the spanish lethal gameplay but failed in the penalties.

To say Germany was one of the best teams is fully justified, in spite of the (un)expected defeat against the Italians. To say the Spanish was the best team and leave the Portuguese out of the equation is bizarre and unjustified. The 4 semi-finals are the best teams in Europe, all had their good moments and all had their lacklustre moments. 2 will head on to the finals, and that's football.

Obviously, in the final, Italy will know in the flesh just how good the Spanish team can be, I am certain of it.

@Sergio Marques, we have read about Real Madrid fans and Barça fans (and the press!!) teaming up in the hotel which hosted the Portuguese squad and screaming their lungs out for "Messi", we know many wanted to see CR7 cry like a baby...but I don't see the humour in posting Angela Merkel's distraught face.

Four our foreign fellow supporters in the final: you know we don't have official lyrics in our anthem so i will post the popular ones everybody sings at the stadium so you can sing along with us :)

Italy played against Germany the way Spain used to play last Euro Cup (kind of).

Meanwhile, Spain has turned into old Italy. Trust the defense (and the goalkeeper) to keep the rival at bay, and score 2 goals in 3 attempts. A far cry from what they used to do.

I'm betting Italy will win the final unless del Bosque starts doing his job.

And why not our Inno? :)

This guy is either a really good actor or completely nuts if you ask me. Poor Manchester City when they get him back in the squad next season. Loose canon.

Awesome goals btw, especially the second one that hit the net with 120km/h :)
