good and bad weathers 2.8

custom weathers with HD-Clouds and one ppfilter for the best immersion in AC

  1. Peter Boese

    good and bad conditions
HD-cloud textures included for realistic skies

This is especially for sim drivers. I am trying to simulate the real colors of the diverse conditions with a realistic blueshift in the distant. For more immersion i balanced sun-levels and sky-levels to simulate eye strain. My goal is a perfect illusion of driving in plausible weathers.

    compatible weathers for online sessions:
(this weathers do not need Content Manager)
    1_heavy_fog, 2_light_fog, 3_clear, 4_mid_clear, 5_light_clouds, 6_mid_clouds, 7_heavy_clouds

not usable for online sessions / Content Manager requirement:
All weathers named with "gbW" are not compatible for online usage and require "Content Manger". Its unique weather-loading feature is absolutely necessary for this modification. The weathers inside this pack are designed to work best with the "real condition" function of CM - an automatic selection by live weather data.

SweetFX for more brightness and better HDR
If the PPFilter+SweetFX is too bright for you, many simmers use the PPFilters from

Among Top 5 must-have mods. You need to use Content Manager, but that's probably the Top 1 must have mod, so IMO a no-brainer. This makes AC look so much better, wish Kunos would just get this as official content. You cannot make realistic skybox with just 1 set of clouds, like stock AC tries to do. This mod fixes the problem, and the visual boost it gives to AC is staggering.

Only "Complaint" I have is the low light conditions, that would need headlights IRL. Many modders do them, but for me it always felt pointless. It's like keeping a picture of your dream girl in your wallet, when she wouldn't go on date with you :D They look real, just as every weather preset in this mod, which makes the lack of working headlights painfully evident.

Absolutely the best and absolutely essential. I have been using this with content manager for ages now which is really where the heart of this is. However you now get the best if you want to run vanilla AC. A brilliant update and a must download for all.

You are an artist man. Since I use your mod, I have not updated my own weathers. And, I think that never will.

at first i was like: ^^ wtf natural filter is the best. but then i tried it and must admit, some mid-clear weather (which i always use) looks better now in CV1 with my own pp filter than the Natural one weathers! Mugello is a dream and Nords.. well even without using it with AC content manage (which i cannot use because i should launch AC via SC4 to get proper AF working) it works amazingly with my old good custom mid clear weather textures.
    Congrats!
    1. Peter Boese
      Author's Response
you can also launch Content Manager with SC4 too. I do this and it works. As long as CM is open, SimCommander is doing his Job. Just link Content Manager in "Game Exe" and also in "wait for"...

Mindblowing, as always. Do you recommend a specific time of day for dusk and dawns?
    1. Peter Boese
      Author's Response
Thank You. The dusks and dawns are designed to have a nice color evolution over the whole time from 8:00-12:00 or 12:00-18:00. If you want a realistic dusk or dawn, just set time-compression to 6-10. For this reason i set the cloud speed to 0...

Really nice that you've expanded the range, but I honestly think that my favorites looked better in v1.4.
Calm before storm and Sun breaks through had more contrast/drama back then. Now, they're a bit too blended in and slightly bland IMO.

Also, although I do use content manager, it certainly isn't required unless you want to use the real weather option.
These weathers can be installed and used like any other weather mod.
They could also be used online prior to this, as long as people had them installed.
    1. Peter Boese
      Author's Response
i'd been thinking about bringing back more of the "drama" in these weathers back. After AC 1.8 and 1.9 esp. this is a little bit difficult, but maybe in the next versions.

BUT for a simple usage of this MOD you need Content Manager! If you just use the standard launcher, the custom cloud textures, which are located in my weathers, are not used, because the standard AC launcher doesn't copy them to its texture/clouds folder. And this will look absolutely awful, because my textures have completely different dimensions and alpha values. And online usage is also not supported, because the server does not tell Content Manager which weather it is using and so it cannot load the right textures. There are some workarounds, but they are not comfortable for non-modders....
