F1 2010 Yielding

So I cut the corner at Melbourne and got a penalty ic Grand Prix mode.

But I was more than prepared to give my position back. So how does it work? Did I not do it in time? Did I accelerate instead of brake once I had realised my mistake?

Or can you not yield, and it is an automatic penalty if you gain a position by corner cutting?

Its a automatic penalty im afraid.

But, for F1 2011 they have said they will give you a little time to give the position back before you get the penalty.
