It was implied based on the gap in the World Series schedule that GT7 would be getting at least one new circuit soon, but few could've predicted that Watkins Glen, a track that has never featured or been hinted at in the series, would be that circuit. The Glen has always been a track famous in the USA but overshadowed on a global scale, and this update may well be the first time a lot of gamers, including myself, virtually drive the circuit.

That's not to say that the track is a bad one, with many challenging corners and elevation changes that make it a popular course on iRacing and other sims that have it. Perhaps this developement will make Watkins Glen a more globally recognized gem in the realm of race tracks.

Update 1.17 also includes a major throwback to the Gran Turismo's of old; the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak car. More famous for being overpowered in Gran Turismo 2 than for any of it's real life achievements, it will be interesting to see how the car's handling is modelled on a more modern engine.
