The GT5 Prologue Hot Lap Challenge

Gentlemen start your engines! The format is simple, each week a car and track will be chosen to run hot laps. Starting Saturday 12pm GMT and finishing the following Saturday 12pm GMT you will be invited to submit your lap times for that challenge. Once the challenge deadline is met the slowest placed driver gets to pick the car and track for the following week (this is usually me!)

Taking part is simple, fire up GT5 Prologue and select the car for the challenge, click on 'Arcade' in the menu then choose the track and then select 'Time Trial' from the menu and then select the settings shown below:

Transmission - Manual
Active Steering - Off
Driving Physics - Professional
Active Stability Management (ASM) - Off
Traction Control - Off
Driving Line - Off
Front Tyres - Sports S2
Rear Tyres - Sports S2

Once you've selected that you can then start hot lapping, look at the online leaderboards or load a ghost lap. There are no tuning options so everyone runs the same setup.

To make it fair and competitive please don't cut the track or abuse the run off area's to gain an advantage, at least half the car should be on the track at all times and on street tracks don't use the barriers to give you an unfair advantage, the idea of the hot lap challenges is to run clean laps in the fastest time possible.

Good luck and above all have fun!

Congrats to Peter winning his debut challenge! It appears front wheel drive cars are the popular choice so as this weeks last place larry I'll choose the Ford Focus ST '06 for a hustle around the streets of London in its reverse configuration.

I'm going to have to be excused this week. Finally got my Fanatec wheel but having issues. At first I thought I was just a bit out of practice as the car was very unstable through corners but when I started my second lap I noticed the ghost cars brake lights flickering and now I've tested my setup on a PC its doing the same thing. I've plugged the pedals into my PC directly via USB and all is good but as soon as I use them with the PS/2 lead that connects the pedals to the wheel the problem returns. I have a replacement lead on order anyway to extend the shifter unit so I'll try that but for now I'm going to try the really short PS/2 lead that normally connects the shifter and see if its the lead, I hope it is else the wheel has to go back.

<Update> I've been messing around with different leads and settings no joy, posted on the Fanatec site about my problem and someone posted a link to a new firmware update so I'm hoping its going to fix it. Bloody typical! had time tonight to sit down and put a good few laps in as I'm working again this weekend so no lap time for me.

Well thankfully the pedals just needed a firmware update so its all back up and running now. While I was testing it out I did a few laps using last weeks choice of the Lotus at Suzuka but only managed a 2'28 but the challenge is closed now anyway so please choose next weeks track and car please Evilone.
