SLI configuration help

Hi, so my two GTX580 sits too close to each other which means one card is not getting the proper amount of airflow and thus sits about 10 degrees higher at all times in terms of temps.

I just bought a SLI bridge, one of those long ones which bend and want to move down one card one slot.
Just wondering if it´s possible?

Motherboard is a Asus Sabertooth X58.

I´ve got it stacked like this,

Soundcard
GPU1
GPU2

It looks like it´s doable but it says PCIEX16? i believe the two other slots are 8 right?

Most motherboards are only capable of running a single X16 slot at a time unless the chipset supports more than one. If multiple GPU's are installed they will split the bandwidth so 2 GPU's would end up with X8 each, 4 would have X4 each. As long as the jumper is capable of stretching from one to the other there shouldn't be any problems.

BTW, if you look closer at the indicator on that motherboard, it says PCIEX16_3 which means it is slot 3 and is capable of X16 the same as the other 2.
