I'm Sure Brits of a certain age will want to say farewell to Mel Smith who died on Friday

Two of the funniest programs ever include Not the Nine O'Clock News (currently shown on GOLD) and Alas Smith & Jones. The Anarchic humour of Not the Nine O'clock News was perfect for the time (I was 14 and already rebelling when it arrived on my TV) with the "I can't believe Reagan is President" song being one of my favourite skits

and of course The Presidential Press Conference
