Question - taking buildings from Google Earth

Kyle Puttifer

@Simberia
I'm working on the Durban circuit, but the buildings I have created using Google Building Maker look absolutely terrible in BTB and in-game.
The coordinates of the buildings:
29° 50'26.09"S 31° 2'7.30"E
They are to the left of this road.
If you click on a 3D building in GE, there is usually an option to view it in the 3D warehouse. These buildings, however, are different. Do you guys know any way of taking these buildings from GE, so that I can put them into a BTB XPack? Surely if a building is in GE and uses phototextures, it must mean it's in the 3D warehouse? I've searched and found nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For sure it's google & free, anyway doesn't mean, you can't model a real cool high 3D model or find it in the warehouse.

It's normally used by Sketchup, from memory, you need to unpack the file, inside you'll find the collada file & the textures. From there, it should be easy enough to port it to BTB / your game.

If you mod the 'poor' original file to a better one (nice UVs, texts res, etc..) via your favorite editor, you could achieve what you're looking for in a minimum amount of time.
