PC2 PC mobo chip set instead of dedicated sound card?

Steam lists the minimum requirements for Project Cars 2 as having a 'DirectX compatible sound card'.

They don't say recommended.

The Short: anybody running this sim' well with just the mobo chip set for audio -- without a dedicated sound card?

(The long: I hate sound cards, and their software. I'm running an MSI Meg X570 Ace mobo (Realtek ACL 1220 chip set), with Firecuda PCIe Gen 4 500gb, and Corsair Force MP510 PCIe Gen 3 960gb. PowerColor RX 5700 XT DirectX for a GPU -- so I might have to skid the Corsair NVMe, and then run the risk of having to switch lanes for the GPU or Firecuda depending on how the Creative sound card wants to 'play'. I've read nothing but problems with most sound cards.)

Thanks for your time, and expertise.

Thanks hotak. Apologies, I thought mobo chip sets were considered onboard, and sound cards were considered dedicated/separate PCIe, or USB, units.

At $120 a pop, I can't afford to be presumptuous. Cheers
