P1 gtr rear spoiler foolishness

Okay, so this has nothing to do with AC, but I still want t post this here for discussion:

I'm sure you have all seen the P1 GTR. Now my question to you is what the hell is the point of the rear spoiler positioning? Logically, you'd want the spoiler to be positioned as far behind the rear wheel as possible, and have it mounted from the top. Mclaren seems to have done exactly the opposite. Moved the spoiler more to the front, and made it mound from the bottom.

When compared to a high aero gt car, like the dtm spec cars, you can see they do spoilers differently.

It's positioned far behind the wheels, to give the benefit of torque and mounted from the top to get uninterupted airflow.

It's even more retarded when you think about the fact that the drag doesn't change if they had mounted the spoiler further behind. So why would they have made such a decision? And even the spoiler arm (supporting piece...) is shaped to go further back, and then back above the wheels...

Any thoughts?
