F1 2011 Override input device

F1 2011 The Game (Codemasters)
Can anyone tell what this does exactly? There's nothing in the manual about it.

I know some people say it reduces lag, but what does it do exactly?

I really can't tell the difference on or off?

I found the car to be much more responsive with override OFF. When on, and set to wheel, it added a large amount of 'slack' in the steering - as if the sensitivity had been reduced considerably.

I played around with saturation, linearity, my wheel's rotation etc, but for me the best 'feel' was with it off.

GT2, saturation 77, linearity 100, 900 degrees - very responsive and smooth, never go past 90 degrees turning for full lock.
