Oculus Q2 settings for AC, could use some clarification..

So, I've given up on running ACC in VR, and have turned my attention back to AC. I might check out AMS2, but the mods in AC are keeping me interested.

My junk:

10400f
1080FE goofing with under/overvolting in Afterburner to mitigate temps usually around 80*c under full load.
16GB ram, 2600mhz
Q2 connected via Link cable @ 2.7Gbps
Launching into CM with CSP and Sol from SteamVR locked at 72fps to coincide with the Q2 settings.

My questions are:

---There are resolution sliders in both SteamVR and the Oculus home app. Which one has more impact on GPU usage? How do they impact one another?

I'm not getting frame drops or stuttering, but I would like a bit more clarity. In game on a single screen, maximum settings and 60fps(dont judge) my 1080 runs around 40% usage and 50*c under full load. When it's running both the screen and Q2 usage jumps up to 90%+ and runs around 80*c, which the reference cards are known for, but I dont love it.

---Is there a way to keep the GPU from rendering on my monitor at the same time?

Thanks in advance for any insight!
