Less cartoon-y?

Never thought I'd find a game I enjoy playing as much as Football Manager, but I'm spending a lot of time with MM.
My biggest gripe so far is the cartoon nature of the game.
Thoughts as to making the game a little more real and a little less looking like sim city?
