Re-reading the Overview tab, it's seems that this is not a GEN helmet. To me this means that it can't be selected in game as YOUR helmet.

So this helmet would only be good for GP Mode, where you play the game as Kimi.

I am surprised a proper modder hasn't jumped on me yet, for getting it wrong!

Correct!
It is just the Kimi helmet for the car and the cut scenes. It can be used as a GEN helmet, but then you have to export the helmet_d and import it into one of the GEN helmet files.
Unfortunately the 3D model of the Gen (bespoke) and the Kimi helmet are different. The fins wouldn't fit at all.In order to make it fit, I must repaint the major part of the helmet
