I have a question about Assetto Corsa mods.

Why when I install a mod by extracting the folders then drag them to my Assetto Corsa root folder, do I sometimes see folders inside that are still zip archives. For instance recently I copied a car to my root folder then looked at some of the files and in extension/config/cars/cf/Ferrari_296, amongst other files there was an empty folder named panel_front and also two separate zip archive files called panel_front and panel_front2. Are these there as optional files for me to extract to that empty folder? Or would Content Manager have unzipped them automatically if I had have dragged everything straight into it?

I think its just a way to save space and speed up loading times. The mod files call on those zip files when needed.
