also the server is now running the wrong tracks

Sorry mate, all I knew was GTL was not working for days. Didn't know events were still running by connecting direct IP.
Just found out

i can't join the server. everytime i try to join the name of david cuthill appers over and over again and then it won't let me in. i have the skinpack installed is it only my problem?

Repeating names should be a skinpack issue. Maybe David runs the wrong pack?

OK - what did you have to do Warren - sounds a bit like Amir might have the same issue...

Open your hosts file with notepad

With Windows Explorer browse to the folder
c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\

Right click the file 'hosts' and select Open or Open With
Open it with Notepad

Make sure you delete all lines containing "127.0.0.1 www.gtl-server.net"
And just add this line once: "81.3.59.61 www.gtl-server.net"

Save and close the file and (re)start GT Legends. Thats it.
