Apps Does Content Manager constantly look for updates ?

Just wondering since I installed Content Manager I keep getting little hiccups in AC, and the red light on my hard drive has been coming on. Its not a lot but it does bug me a bit while driving.
Is there a way to find out what it is exactly ?

Settings -> CM -> general, there is an option to change auto update frequency, default is once a day iirc. No idea what the issue might be, maybe try giving more specific info
